Marble City, named for Knoxville’s history as a marble quarry, is a neighborhood on the northern shores of the Tennessee River. Full of cottages and bungalows on winding streets and plentiful landscaping, Marble City is a convenient Knoxville neighborhood due to its proximity to the downtown area.
The area puts an emphasis on the natural beauty of Tennessee, with five parks supplying plenty of recreational opportunities. The Third Creek Greenway is a particularly popular gem, leading residents through scenic trails with views of the river.
Sutherland Ave. is the major thoroughfare in Marble City. It connects to Downtown Knoxville while avoiding the I-40 and I-275, and houses natural foods stores, popular barbecue spots, and river outfitters.
