Located about eight miles northeast of downtown San Diego and just south of San Diego State University, El Cerrito has a central location with easy access to Interstates 8 and 805. El Cerrito translates to "little hill," and it gets that name from the hill going up 55th to 58th Street.
El Cajon Boulevard serves as the busiest street in El Cerrito. It is the place where you can find international cuisine such as Mediterranean and Lebanese. The shopping scene consists of smaller independent shops, including Love Me Twice Boutique, which has women's clothing at a bargain. When you want to step out of your apartment to take advantage of a sunny day, head over to Colina Del Sol Park and Rec Center for outdoor enjoyment.
