Pawcatuck is a small community in southeast Connecticut, essentially a suburban offshoot of Westerly, Rhode Island, which sits immediately across the Pawcatuck River. Much of Pawcatuck’s local dining scene is located near the Broad Street Bridge, which connects the two communities.
The Mechanic Street Historic District, also located along the river, is full of beautifully preserved homes and old industrial buildings from the area’s shipbuilding past. Residents of Pawcatuck enjoy a fairly central location, with the Atlantic coast just a few minutes away; Providence, Hartford, and New Haven within an hour’s drive; and Boston just ninety minutes up Interstate 95.
