East Rock

East Rockaway is a small incorporated village on the South Shore of Long Island, sitting about 15 miles from downtown Manhattan in Nassau County. Despite covering just two square miles, it carries a genuine sense of place rooted in a long history as a shipping and trading hub dating back to the late 1600s. That maritime past is still visible today in the well-maintained marinas that line the waterway, where pontoon boats and small yachts find easy harbor. The village sits at the edge of the Five Towns area, bordered by Lynbrook, Rockville Centre, Hewlett, and Oceanside, giving residents convenient access to a broader range of dining and retail without sacrificing a quieter pace of life. Main Street and Atlantic Avenue serve as the practical heart of town, walkable corridors where everyday errands get handled close to home. The annual Stars and Stripes Festival each September draws the community together with games, vendors, and fireworks.
