River is a suburb in South Newport News that stretches along the James River. This quaint community travels along Warwick Boulevard, connecting the neighborhood south into Downtown Newport News and north towards Christopher Newport University. There’s also an Amtrak station available to commuters that sits on the north end of town near Huntington Park, a sprawling green space that offers a beautiful beach, a large playground overlooking the river, athletic fields, and more. Nearby is the James River Fishing Pier and Crab Shack on the James, a casual spot with fresh seafood, burgers, and cocktails. There are a few other businesses in town, but the remainder of River is residential.
