West Des Moines combines suburban comfort with city conveniences in one of Iowa's growing communities. The Historic Valley Junction district preserves the area's railroad heritage through its collection of independent shops and eateries. Miles of trails wind through local parks and green spaces, while Jordan Creek Town Center stands as Iowa's largest shopping complex. The rental market remains stable, with one-bedroom apartments averaging $1,096 per month and three-bedroom units averaging $1,597.
Home to over 68,000 residents, West Des Moines has evolved from its railroad town roots while preserving its historic charm. Housing options range from historic properties near Valley Junction to residences near Glen Oaks Country Club. Major employers including Wells Fargo, Microsoft, and Hy-Vee contribute to the local economy. Notable areas include Glen Oaks, Valley Junction, and the Jordan Creek district, each with its own character and amenities.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at Briarwood Grand Apartments
Don't live here. Horrible place. Lived there 3 years. Matienace guys are incompetent. Manager never there. Constant weed smell. SEVERE MOLD PROBLEM! AND YES I HAVE PROOF OF MOLD!!! Building went downhill once transfer of owner. They only care about money and will keep your deposit and make things up to bill you for. I was smart and took pictures and video before I moved. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!
I just moved out of these apartments after living there for 2 years. I experienced the worse maintenance; nothing EVER got fixed, drug deals in parking lot, trash everywhere, unsafe for my child, loud music, and people running through the halls all hours of the night. It was the worse place I ever lived. I wouldn't advise moving here.
Property Manager at Briarwood Grand Apartments, Responded To This Review
We certainly do apologize if your residency at Briarwood was less than satisfactory. We strive to make our properties safe and welcoming communities. In order to do this, we not only employ the best people we also count on the cooperation of our tenants. We have a great partnership with the West Des Moines Police Department, so had there been illegal activity in our parking lot, we would have been notified and Police presence would have increased. We would assume that while witnessing this event, a call was not made to the Police Department nor the manager. We employ a staff of 4 full-time maintenance personal to oversee the maintenance issues of the property, while your review did not state what was not fixed in your home, we are available to all of our residents 24/7. We all carry cell phones to make sure we are available should the need arise, as well as employ an after-hours answering service for emergencies. If our maintenance staff overlooked a repair at your apartment, we do apologize. A follow up call to our manager would have corrected this immediately. Briarwood Grand is a 96-unit Apartment Community, as in any close living quarters, from time to time you are going to hear noises, it cannot be helped. If the noise were to be excessive and disturbing, our manager would have taken steps to correct the issues, had she received a phone call, text, or email regarding the problem. We appreciate your residency at Briarwood Grand and we will continue to do our best to make it a safe, welcoming place to call home. We firmly believe that there is always room for improvement, and we will always do our best for our residents.
So far so good... I love it here, management is super awesome, welcoming and gets the job done. I can't wait til summer to explore the trails. Also love that I am near a gas station, hyvee, walgreens and a gym... super awesome neighborhood
I love my apartment!! it's clean and quiet and well kept, my apartment manager is nice and helpful. I love this building and I love my home, this area is normally high priced for rent, this apartment is decently priced and the people are amazing!! I couldn't be more happier with my home.
great apartments, management is wonderful. I love the location and the layout of my unit. Very comfortable. Price isn't bad, laundry units down hall and aren't expensive.
