Fruity drinks by the beach may not be in the cards for you this year, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy your own at-home spring break. Two of the major reasons people tend to go on vacation are to relieve stress and experience something different. The good news is you don’t have to travel too far to do those things. It’s so easy to fall into the rhythm of a set routine that you don’t notice all that’s going on right in your own backyard. An at-home spring break is the perfect occasion to explore your surroundings as well as indulge in what you don’t typically have time for. You can get out and enjoy warmer temperatures or stay in and avoid high pollen counts.
While rocking an at-home spring break, be sure to:
Make the most of your apartment’s amenities
Most apartment communities offer a host of amenities for residents. You can go for a dip in the pool, make dinner at the BBQ and grilling stations, sweat for some post-workout endorphins at the fitness center, and take Fido to the bark park. If you’ve already exhausted all of your apartment’s amenities, check with the leasing office to see if they’ve partnered with any local businesses for discounts, coupons, or trial membership offers.
Visit a park you’ve never been to before
Take to the outdoors for a change of scenery! Parks provide plenty of space for recreational activities and simply enjoying nature. Whether you want to go for a walk, ride your bike, play sports, or pack a picnic, there’s a wide, open park with your name on it. Lots of parks host events like farmers’ markets and festivals as well.
Catch a concert
Check the calendars of your favorite local venues for touring acts and homegrown talent. Many cities hold Concerts in the Park event series in public parks or downtown areas. Popular downtown haunts also tend to book musicians and bands to create a lively atmosphere and attract customers.
Immerse yourself in a story
Read a book, watch a movie, catch a play, or listen to a podcast series to transport to another world through storytelling.
Update your home with a fresh look
Consider purchasing plants or artwork to brighten up your living space. You can even spring for a combination of plants and artwork with framed succulents and wall planters. Fresh flowers also bring a pop of color and vibrancy to any room.
Cook a tasty meal
Find a recipe for something you’ve always wanted to try or a favorite dish from your childhood for a special treat. If you’re not up for cooking (or dishes), order takeout from a new place or an old favorite.
Give yourself the spa treatment
Take a bubble bath with some Epsom salts, try a new face mask, and use a deep conditioning treatment on your hair for the ultimate pampering. Light some scented candles or diffuse aromatic oils for ambiance and relaxation.
