Property Ratings at Ballantrae Apartments
I have lived here for 4 years and for 3 1/2 of those years I have walked my cat through the complex 2 to 3 times a day. She was trained to walk with me, wore a harness with a tracker, with a 6 foot leash that she dragged behind her. If any of you own a cat, you know they do not like to be confined, so she walks behind me as opposed to me walking her. For 3 1/2 years, I have received nothing but admiration for the fact that the cat follows me. Now with new management, I am required to hold the leash in my hand and expect that the cat is going to walk like a dog would. There is no ordinance in Seminole county, or the city of Sanford that requires a cat to be leashed. They claim that if the cat were to get spooked, it would run into the street and could be hit by a car. However, in the 3 1/2 years, the cat has only ducked under a bush if startled. If the cat were on a leash in my hand and became startled, she would pull herself out of the harness and run. In doing, so, there would be no tracker connected to her, placing her more at risk. I have explained this, as well as her history of walking the complex for the last 3 1/2 years. Despite this, they still require the leash to be in hand. Because of this, I have decided to find another place to live. I cannot expect my cat who has gone on 2 to 3 walks a day for 3 1/2 years to suddenly be confined indoors. I am not a crazy cat lady, I also have a dog that walks on a leash with us, and I am very responsible in picking up after my dog. I have also been an excellent tenant, who maintains the inside and outside of my apartment, as well as picking up trash, alcohol bottles, and cigarette boxes on my walks, after having asked the complex to do routinely. As much as I love the layout of my apartment, the location, and my neighbors, it’s time to move on.

Just moved in… Unfortunately!!!!!! All breakers pop constantly. Half electrical outlets don’t work and when you turn the breaker that popped back on. Wait for the lightening across the ceiling. Place is slapped together like a 3yr olds Lego house. Stay clear!!!! I mean it!!!!!!!!!

My wife and I had the pleasant experience of living a year in Ballantrae, where the service managers always treated us in a timely and friendly manner. Ballantrae staff especially France and Kathy were exceptionally attentive and were always willing to help us. The maintenance service of our facilities was excellent and timely at all times. A very good place to live

This is a nice property. I was impressed with size of the apartments, the area looked very clean and quiet. I would only wish that the apartment would be more updated.

I recently moved into the apartment complex and didn’t know the area or anyone around. I must say, I picked a good one. The community is just beautiful and set back which makes it feel very homey and the staff is always there for me. If I ever have a problem in my apartment the maintenance team is on it. Every time I call the front office, Kathy or Nicole answer and are always so nice and helpful. I have not met the property managers but they always smile and seem very friendly too. I highly suggest this community! I love it here!!!

I was seeking an apartment at Ballantrae Apts and nobody did anything right. There is something wrong with Ballantrae Apts and its staff. If you need a place to live, don't try the Ballantrae Apartments--they are not right.

Would not suggest this place if you have children: There aren't many other families with children in the community. There isn't a "safe place" for them to play even if there were. Would not suggest second floor apartments at all - Your master bedroom is above a very loud garage and there is no way to minimize the noise if you end up with someone that comes home at 3AM. You're out of luck, the office staff doesn't care. Would not suggest loft units: your second bedroom will be cold in the winter and hot in the summer because the unit return is in the loft. Office staff doesn't care if you have children in that room. Essentially told to suck it up and ask for a transfer (which costs $700 mid lease) or wait until the end of the lease. Gated community, gate rarely works. Most of the time, it looks like it's about to fall off. If you don't have a local number, they can't hook up your phone to the gate and you're again told - tough luck. Everyone has the code to come in anyway - we were told by a pizza place, don't worry we have the code to get in. Speed limit in the community is 25 - noone uses stop signs and most people speed through. again safety issue for those of us with children. You can hear every noise your neighbor makes! I can hear the neighbors in the apartment next to us talking and the tv from downstairs not to mention we can hear the door chime when a neighbor opens or closes their door.

My boyfriend and I moved to Florida back in June from Michigan. We had NO idea what this apartment looked like, didn't have the money to go on a visit to Florida to see if before we came and didn't have anyone close to look at the apartment for us. We researched, looked at pictures and told the apartment complex of our horror stories from past apartments. They assured us that this place is not the same as the others. And it's not!! We got so lucky. The apartments are huge, clean, quiet. The neighbors are so friendly and the layout of the complex is so unique. It's in the perfect placement right next to Lake Mary & the staff is very kind. For coming here not knowing what it looked like for ourselves we are very happy that it turned out so great.
The Ballantrae is a nice apartment. However, please read your contract. They mean 60 days notice. Also, gym equipment needs to be fixed. Thank you.
