Apartment Reviews at Aspen Run
If I Had to Do It All Over Again, I Would Choose Applechase
Years ago I moved to Apple Chase during my divorce with my son and between the friendly leasing agents and the layout of the apartment, it was a quick decision to call this home. The apartments are spacious and they really do take care of the properties and tenants. I have since bought a home, but if I had to go back to apartment living I would choose Apple Chase again. Apryl
apple chase
My husband and I have lived here for about 2 months now (moving from a very rural area, to Delaware). We like the area, everyone we have encountered has been very nice! Okay, generally the apartment is good. The good: Love the layout everywhere but the kitchen Fairly quiet, we don't hear the neighbors too much (we are on top floor) The balcony is awesome! The AC works really well water pressure is good, we have not run out of hot water yet. The pool is great, and is much deeper at the deep end than you would normally see! Maintenance crew is really nice and helpful The Bad: Our apartment was not very clean upon move in, however it had been vacant for a few weeks before hand. (but obviously not cleaned very well when the previous tenant left) The kitchen is a galley kitchen, with not a whole lot of cabinet space. and the washer in dryer(I don't know if it is the same in all units) is in the kitchen. The AC is loud, we are constantly having to turn the tv volume up and down to adjust to when the AC turns on and off. The train, shakes everything!! I am used to living near train tracks, but it is good to consider. Most of the people in the office are nice. One of them, so far, is rude and does not always take issues seriously. That being said, any issues we have had so far have been fixed (mostly in a timely manner). Consider getting a draft guard for your door. There does not seem to be one in the main door to our building, because of that, bugs from outside tend to make their way inside. I have had a giant beetle crawl under the door as well as a couple of smaller ones. and we are on the top floor. All things considered, we do enjoy living here. None of the things mentioned above are too bad to not live here. Yes it would be nicer if there were not any issues, but who is perfect? I hope this review was helpful!
Incredibly rude staff
Don't come here. The area is not only unsafe, the apartments are dirty. The staff is an absolute nightmare at the front office. The workers will hang up on residents, call them names, refuse to give any further contact numbers for managers or any other person at Capano residential. The office manager currently is the worst of all the workers. She is incredibly inappropriate and handles herself with no professionalism in the least. This is something that I have come to expect from them and other residents here have expressed their concerns as well with the way we are being treated by office staff and management. Don't come here.
Property Manager at Aspen Run, responded to this review:
We are sorry to hear you did not have a pleasant experience. I urge you to please stop by the office at your earliest convenience to discuss any issues you might have.
Things to Consider in Apt Decision
There are good and bad issues with apartment living, as it is with being a homeowner as well. Below are my negatives (I'll start with the negatives) and positives since living at Apple Chase: 1) Severe paper-thin walls. I live on the ground floor. I can hear every single movement and sound of upstairs neighbors, to the point of knowing their routine because I'm awakened when they wake up (sound of walking, flushing toilets, showering, walking in the rest of apartment, when they watch tv, running appliances, opening and closing doors). Literally. My ceiling fan and kitchen light fixtures rattle when neighbors are walking or running appliances. Don't rent here if you have anxiety, or if deep sleep and rest are big factors in your apt decision. 2) Severely loud A/C unit. When a/c comes on and I'm watching tv or on the phone, I have to significantly cut the volume up. So if you can imagine, I have to keep the remote nearby to constantly turn up/down/up/down volume due to loud a/c unit. When I've fallen asleep in living room, I'm awakened most times by a/c unit. Again, don't rent here if deep sleep and rest are high priority for you. 3) weak, cheap appliances (washer, dryer, dishwasher). What's in the model apartment are not what's in the apartment I was given. If you plan on renting, I would check to see if you can view which apartment you are given before moving into it. I ended up going to local laundry mat because I got tired of making calls to maintenance. Positives: great location, well-maintained lawn, exterior, landscape. Nice, clean pool area. Nice lifeguard and maintenance staff were courteous. They (maintenance) can only do what they are told to and paid to do. Many times I found they 'bandaged' the issues instead of truly fixing the issues. But again, they can only do what management are willing to pay for. My final opinion, knowing what I know now, I would have: asked to see the apartment first before signing lease agreement, chose 3rd floor apartment, or spent the extra money and rent at St. Andrews (or the brand new apartment up the street from here). Good luck to you!
The grass is greener
?We have had some great and not so great experiences at Apple Chase Apartments. Initially, the property is beautiful and they were very accommodating with the location and unit preferences we had. Some employees are more helpful than others, and we learned that pretty quickly. As far as our experiences have gone, the area feels pretty safe. The landscaping is kept in pristine condition, the trash is close, and they do a pretty good job keeping the stairwell and shared spaces clean. The mailboxes are within the unit, which makes it easy to check your mail on your way in (instead of walking down the street). We have had good and bad experiences with the maintenance schedule/staff. Initially it seemed like we were able to get things fixed in a timely manor, but there have been a few instances where they took a ridiculous amount of time to get to our issues (fridge, heat/air conditioning, oven/stove). I don't know if maintenance is completely to blame though, the front staff wasn't helpful and seemed unorganized in these situations. We have issues with ants from time to time (which is weird since we are on the 3rd floor and keep our place clean), and though it says there are sound-proof walls/flooring, you can hear your neighbors a lot more than I would like. The location is something we have enjoyed, it's close to grocery stores, drug stores, and restaurants. It is also just a few minutes from Rt. 1 and I95. The apartment is Very spacious with an awesome balcony. The residents are diverse and all very friendly. With all of this being said, I am still very happy we chose this apartment and is definitely worth the small hassles we've endured.
My experience at Apple Chase:
-Moved in March of 2015 where I received a free months rent but wasnāt told until it was time to sign my lease that receiving a free month meant I had to sign a 13-month lease. -When I moved in my stove didnāt work, was promised a new one but got another old one. My bathtub was clogged with hair and they had to come out three times before they fixed the problem. My bathroom wall bleed yellow which I scrubbed before I left the apartment. -I heard my neighbor having relations 5 nights a week. -I received a job offer in December 2015 with a new company 1700 miles away. I was told I wouldnāt qualify to break the lease. - I was charged the remainder of my lease, plus a re-letting fee equal to one months rent and my free rent I received at move in totaling almost $5,000.00. -The leasing office avoided me until I started calling corporate but still I was left responsible for the whole amount. -If the apartment had been rented before my lease was up I would have saved money. It āsupposedlyā remained vacant for three months until the very last month and then when I asked to view it to make sure no one lived there, I was told it got rented the day before. -The leasing office was sending out e-mails about me to associates and accidently sent it to me. -Iām on a payment plan and I canāt go to court to recover any of the funds until after itās paid off. -I had a co-worker that lived in another apartment in the area and when her and her husband got divorced she told her leasing office she was moving for work and had no problems, even though she was lying. -I have a friend that lived two buildings down from me and when he got relocated for his job, they charged him almost as much as me even though he qualified. He also took the financial hit and now lives in California. I just wanted to let people hear my experience.
Loved It!
I lived at Apple Chase for about three years and loved it! Each time I had a maintenance issue, someone was there to address within about a day or two. The grounds were always maintained quite well and when there was snow, it was removed promptly. Only reason I left was to be closer to the city which is where I go to school and work. I would definitely recommend this place to everyone!
Beautiful place with great amenities, most importantly GREAT Management team!
"These are great apartments in a great area. They are a bit older and that brings some issues, but the maintenance and office staff are always friendly and quick to respond to such issues. I have loved my time here and will always recommend it to others."
A great place to live
Apartments are nice and if a maintenance problem does occur the maintenance crew are on time and fix the problem in a timely manner. The office staff always greets you with a smile and is there to assist you in any way they can. Come and enjoy the good life of apartment living at Apple Chase.
About to renew lease
Hey! I've been living here for almost a year, and it's pretty good place to live overall. My building is pretty cool, not a lot of noise. Haven't needed much maintenance done so far. The only real complaint I could have is that the people at the office are usually really rude. The only one that I liked dealing with and knew what they were doing is Michelle. The apt complex has a bad rep for some reason. However it's not the apt complex it's the developments behind the apt complex. However, security drives around once in a while, and I don't feel unsafe as a female walking outside at night.
Property Manager at Aspen Run, responded to this review:
If you don't mine me asking what complex do you live in? I was looking into moving here but wanted a building that was pretty quiet.
Moved in a couple months ago
I recently moved here. It's really nice, don't have a problem with maintenance ect. The only thing I don't like about it is that we live at a building closer to the houses behind us. People that don't belong to Apple chase kind of park in our parking lot and go to those houses. To me that's kind of shaddy, and people from the other development through trash in our dumpsters and over flow the actual dumpsters. Besides that I'm pretty sure that we will be renewing our lease.
affordable living
I've lived at Apple Chase for over a year. For the rent you pay, you are getting more bang for your buck than other complexes in the area. I have had no problems since moving in and management has been very responsive to any maintenance requests. Some of the people who live here are messy and inconsiderate, however, that is not the fault of the apartment complex. The new renovations to the fitness center are nice as well. Dont expect luxury living if you move into an apartment complex, but I think Apple Chase is a nice place to live and very convenient to route 95 and the surrounding area. As far as management being rude, I have never personally had a problem with management. They have been nothing but friendly to me and I suspect that other posters may have been rude and disrespectful when they go to the leasing office (as I have observed on occasion). Treat others how you would like to be treated.
Pathetic maintenance
I am living in these apartments from past 7 months, anytime I put a maintenance request, never ever maintenance crew showed-up on time and fix the problem on time. I had placed around 6-7 maintenance request, every time I need to call them twice or thrice and request them to send somebody to fix it.
Don't
I was very disappointed with the service I received, first of I was given the impression that I got the apartment by the agent thus my payments for all that was required of me. But at the end of the day my application was denied and no reason was given to me as of why and the two months waiting time for their reply costed me the ability to look for other places and now am out of time to look for a place. If they had told me the truth from the beginning none of this would have happened
Disgusting
Got one star because staff in office is pleasant and matinence does try but EVERYDAY you walk out to three over filled dumpsters and heaps and heaps of trash piled around them, bags not closed and garbage falling into the street. The housing development behind the apartment complex residents just drive in a dump there garbage as well. It's summer and it now of course smells. No not worth it gross moving out at end of lease.
The best apt. i have ever lived in
The staff are very personable and the maintenance have promptly addressed any issues i had. I feel very safe here . The community is well kept , landscaping and buildings are excellent. It is a beautiful place to live. I love my apt. and the community. It is excellent!

City - Newark

Newark
Newarkās dominant landmark and cultural hub is undeniably the University of Delaware campus, where the student body nearly matches the cityās population of permanent residents. Accordingly, many of the communityās resources are tailor-made for the collegiate crowd: an eclectic mix of restaurants and nightlife venues lines Main Street on the north side of campus, and affordable apartments are easy to find anywhere in town.
Despite the fact that it is primarily a college town, Newark maintains a diverse population including families, young professionals and even retirees, with rental options available to suit any lifestyle. The sprawling nature preserves that border the northern end of the city provide gorgeous settings for hiking, camping, canoeing, and simply enjoying the great outdoors. Just thirty minutes from Wilmington, Newark also makes an excellent home base for commuters.
