Fort Smith was originally developed as a military outpost in 1817. Even though it has grown exponentially since, it’s still highly military in nature. Fort Chaffee Maneuver Training Center is nearby, and now serves as a training camp for the Arkansas National Guard.
The state’s most established and longest-performing symphony orchestra is locate here. Every year, the Fort Smith Symphony Orchestra delights audiences with their musical talents. In addition to military bases, the area was the site of John Wayne’s True Grit and other films such as Biloxi Blues.

Property Ratings at Aspen Heights
Price is ok but they have bugs, don’t expect things to get fixed in a timely manner, and they will not give you your deposit back no matter how clean it is.
Have lived here for a while now. Have spent so much time trying to get maintenance done on multiple areas of the apartment. Poor plumbing and poor management. If you do decide to live here, if you cant afford anywhere else, I would recommend taking photos nearly every day and maybe you can get out with a great case for a lawsuit when they inevitably break the lease or do something else really shady.
The units are fair for the price, but don't get your hopes up. They will milk you for every penny you have. Also if something is broken don't expect it to get fixed in a timely manor. The structure of the buildings is also questionable, within the last year there was two ceiling cave ins, and tenants were still charged the entire months rent while vacated during repairs. If you chose to live there document everything with pictures, from the day you move in to the day you move out, they will charge you for things that were never there. As for the two bedroom apt units the smaller room has no air circulation from the central heat/AC.
