So far the experience is good. Always parking near my unit. Even being close to a busy street. It’s not loud or an issue. You’re able to grill here which was the deciding factor for us to choose Ascend2300. The commute to Camp Pendleton is great as well.

I find it ridiculous that there is not assigned parking. Each apartment should have at least one assigned spot. People in the building across from my park in front of my building. I often come home late at night and cannot find a parking spot anywhere near my building. I feel for what we pay, each apt. should have at least one spot reserved for parking close to the building they reside in.

This is a huge benefit as parking is limit in Carlsbad and often times at an additional charge. Thank you for your suggestion on reserved parking; we have had reservation's for parking in the past and found that that was not the best solution for our property, as our property footprint does not allow for every resident to directly park in front of their unit. The \"first come first serve\" allows rotation of any premiums spots. Grounds are not kept up. As often as we hear the gas blower at 7am, one would think the areas other than around the office and the pool would look better cared for.

Parking Tickets In Assigned Resident Parking

You will get very expensive parking tickets from a private parking enforcement company for minor infractions. I got a ticket for $60 for having an expired registration (only expired by a month). The fee then doubled after 14 days. Other infractions that will give you a ticket: - parking backwards in a spot - guests will get tickets in guest parking unless you pre-register their car - not moving your car for 5 days

We just recently moved to Rising Glen and loved our experience! Throughout the touring, application, and move in process the office staff has been helpful and supportive. Gave us great recommendations for near by dog parks and restaurants. We’ve also met some neighbors and they love the mellow coastal atmosphere the community provides.

The lack of heating and poor upkeep of the grounds make it difficult for me to recommend this community. The map at the entrance is a good indication of the care given. That map is an embarrassment! Staff is great though!!!

Not worth the price

My roomate and I moved into this complex in February after 3 months of trying to find a place within our budget and had availability without being put on a waiting list. We were only allowed to see the complex’s model unit due to tenants living in unit we chose so, since living here, The issues With the complex/apartment. 1. Not enough storage in unit( bathroom only has a little space under sink, bedroom one shelf in closet & it has no hall closet). 2. Refrigerator & freezer extremely small 3. The heaters in every room don’t give off enough heat to heat the room ( plus real expensive to use) 4. Washer/dryers old and rusted 5. Outside Trash & recycle bins over flowing all the time. tenants moving out dump furniture, mattresses whatever they don’t need by dumpsters and it sits there for weeks.5. Outside of Complex isn’t cleaned regularly for example: spider webs, power washing sidewalks, general repairs outside. Certain parts lack any type of landscaping and have nothing but dirt. 6 downstairs apartments lack outdoor lighting.7 issue with ants/spiders& roaches

Huge recommendation points... (Verified Renter)

Huge recommendation points for me are the in-unit laundry and that the place allows dogs with no weight limit. My only issues with this place has more to do with the residents-- not super private here, sometimes our neighbors are loud, people not picking up their dog's poop or letting their dog off leash etc, trash overflowing, recycling being done incorrectly and also overflowing. I think apartment social events would be nice, and a formal dog park! A lot of us have kids and pets.

It's not at... (Verified Renter)

It's not at all a parking friendly place so having family and friends over is not really doable without the risk of a tow or ridiculous advance planning and rules & regulations... Trash is always overflowing because there are not enough recepticles/dumpsters for this many units so folks have to resort to using the recycling bins, also overflowing.. Very unsigghtly. Termites are eating the place alive and there is rotting broken rain gutters, rusted flashing and stucco that has eroded to the point where some of the units leak in bad rain storms. I'm ok with my place but... Also... the 3 story buildings don't have central AC or Heat... other more modern options are out there for people. but I personally am content here. I just don't have people over very often... because it's not easily doable. Not a lot of people would be comfortable with those conditions. Works for me for this time in my life.

The building is... (Verified Renter)

The building is so poorly insulated between floors, I can hear every step above me. The front doors slam and rocks my whole place. There is no heat in the winter and no A/C in the summer. Tyhe trash is a joke, mice and ant everywhere. Not enough recycling cans for even one home, let alone a whole building. I have been here 3 years and my carpet is peaking in every room, very cheap. Windows are old single pane, scraping loudly when you open or close. Floors squeek in every room.

I personally love... (Verified Renter)

I personally love it here but there are things about the property that would be a turn off to some, so I might not recommend it here without some warnings: Not enough recycling and trash bins for the # of units and people living here, so unsightly trash often overflowing and visible. Termites repeatedly abundant in several structures after minor temporary extermination attempts. Parking policies and towing protocol that prohibits having guests for some. Management is not allowed to have anyone clean my windows and two sets of them are unreachable in the Townhouses, so I'll have to hire an outside company and pay to have them cleaned. The property should have powerwashing/window cleaning as part of their regular maintenance schedule like they do at most similar complexes. Not thrilled to have to pay for and hire folks on my own to do this but I have no other options. Many of the units have serious water leaks when we get a lot of rain. Repairs are not made to prevent this, so unsightly sandbags sit in front of units to prevent water seepage. Looks really tacky and embarrassing looking. But... alternative repairs are unlikely, so it's ok.

Avoid them

They do not protect you against bad neighbors. They do not work with you to get things done and handled. They do not honor their word about doing something for you. Go somewhere else! Seriously bad owners who don't care about anything but getting your money.

I would recommend the community but I am a bit disappointed with my apartment. The appliances are old. They work decently but feel they should have been replaced. I think the rent is high for an apt. that does not have a linen closet or a hall closet. I feel the grounds are very well taken care of and the workout room is great. I appreciate that very much. So overall I would recommend the community and one of my colleagues and her family moved in because of my recommendation.

The fact that... (Verified Renter)

The fact that you hear every sound above you, and that top floor units rent for more than $2,200 a month, leaves a bit to be desired. Also there is no Heating. Well there are the small totally outdated little fans in the wall that provide no heat at all. Luckily, we don't need heat often in Carlsbad. Plus insulation from other units around you keep the temperature right around 70.

I would not recommend this apartment because parking is too difficult for guests, when there are more than enough parking spots. Also management does not handle service requests in a timely manner. The grounds, pool, and gym were kept very nice.

This community is well taken care of. Any service request gets taken care of immediately. The office staff are really helpful and patient. The parking is simple and there is no stress as to whether or not you're going to get a spot. The apartments are lovely inside and the design is really open and relaxing. I would change nothing about how I live right now. I am extremely happy here.

The change in the parking rules is very inconvenient. Only having a guest visit for 4 hours isn't always a reality. The problem wasn't not having enough guest spaces. It was not allowing homes with 3 residents to have 3 parking spots. The parking lot is never full in the 14months I lived there. By not allowing 3 cars for residents with 3 bedrooms or the option to pay more for an additional parking space you inconvenienced everyone by making visitor parking more difficult with time restrictions.
