Located about three miles northwest of Downtown San Antonio, Monticello Park provides a lovely, tree-filled setting offering a variety of historic homes. Recognized as the Monticello Park Historic District, most of the homes in the neighborhood were built in the 1920s. Famous architect N Strauss Nayfach, who also built the Alameda Theater and the University of Texas at Austin’s School of Architecture, designed about 40 of the houses.
Monticello Park extends from Fredericksburg Road west to Wilson Boulevard and includes the top-rated Thomas Jefferson High School. This beautiful community’s array of architecture makes the neighborhood stand out as one of San Antonio’s best. After renting in Monticello Park, take a walk along the sidewalks to appreciate the community’s charm and history. The neighborhood is very much residential, but some shops and restaurants are available along Fredericksburg Road, including an H-E-B grocery store.
