The small city of Madras is a fairly secluded community in central Oregon, about forty miles up Highway 97 from Bend on the edge of the Warm Springs Reservation. Home to around 7,000 people, Madras exhibits a cozy small-town atmosphere, with a modest Downtown district and public parks within easy walking distance of most neighborhoods. Perhaps the city’s most unique feature is the Erickson Aircraft Collection, a host of operational historic aircraft available for public viewing on the north end of town. Oregon’s pristine wilderness surrounds the city, with the nearby mountains and forests providing gorgeous scenery and offering limitless opportunities for hiking, camping, and mountain biking.
