About This Property
Hello and thank you for looking at this great condo opportunity at The Reserve at Cedar Lodge. It’s easy to get to on Corporate Blvd about a half-mile off Interstate 10, with convenient access to Whole Foods, Albertson’s and Wal Mart about a mile away. If you are an LSU student, campus is about 4 miles away. The Reserve is a former apartment complex, built in 2003 and converted to condos after Hurricane Katrina. We are the second owner of Unit 5311. We bought it, did the renovations and moved in in 2019. They tell me there are 300 condos here. The place is gated, well-landscaped and maintained with a nice, nice pool, full amenities building with exercise room, a half-court basketball gym and media room all included. (Compare THAT to other places you’re looking at!) Ours is a third-floor unit, and we park in the attached parking garage. The top floor of the garage is the most convenient, but we often use the second floor if it’s rainy or there’s too much hot sun. We did a lot of renovations here and the most striking is that we removed the corner post to open the kitchen up, also installing Carrara marble to replace the Formica countertops. All the matching kitchen appliances are less than two years old. Next is we removed the track-mounted bi-fold doors that NEVER work right anywhere and instead created an entry wall which hides the washer/dryer and HVAC unit. I mean, who EVER wants to see that at the front door?! We also built new cabinet doors and added a third row of doors to extend all the way to the ceiling. And, of course, new plank flooring everywhere. No carpet, no tile. We also installed faux brick accent walls in the living room and kitchen. We added new shelves as well. And not long after we moved in, we built out the 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 closet to include as much storage as we could fit, including space for maybe 30 pairs of shoes and none of them on the floor! This 763 square-foot unit has a couple of nice advantages; first because, instead of having a Juliet balcony rather than an outside one, these top-floor condos have a bit more interior footage, AND they have 10-foot ceilings instead of 8-foot ceilings, with an 11-foot living room ceiling, so these seem a lot more open. Just compare any of the others you are looking at and you’ll immediately see the difference! And let me mention, pets are welcome So you gotta admit, this place is much nicer than the others you will see in this price range, not only because of the quality inside but…this is a nice part of town surrounded by high-dollar developments. Extending from Old Hammond Highway south to roughly Perkins Road, the downtown Baton Rouge neighborhood of Bocage provides easy access to many Baton Rouge locations, including Baton Rouge Community College, Baton Rouge Country Club, and Louisiana State University. Independence Community Park, which features the Botanic Gardens, the Main Library, and the Independence Park Theatre, is just north of Bocage.
Renting in Bocage provides access to a variety of shops and restaurants, especially near Towne Center and Old Hammond Highway. The Mall of Louisiana, a large indoor shopping mall, is located on the south side of the neighborhood. Bocage is less than two miles southeast of Downtown Baton Rouge and less than five miles northeast of LSU.
