Loves Park earned its nickname, "The City with a Heart," through something more than civic pride. The city traces its roots to 1901, when Rockford industrialist Malcolm Love purchased 236 acres along what would become a gathering place for the surrounding region. Today, Loves Park is a residential suburb on the northeast edge of Rockford, with the Rock River forming its western border and Interstate 90 running along the east. That location gives residents easy access to the broader Rockford metro while preserving a quieter, greener pace of daily life. Rock Valley College is just minutes away, and Rockford University is a short drive south, adding an educational presence to the area.
