Loxahatchee is an unincorporated community in western Palm Beach County where wide-open land and a quieter pace set it apart from the busier coastal cities to the east. The area borders the Arthur R. Marshall Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge, a vast wetland preserve that keeps the horizon refreshingly open, and residents are within roughly 30 miles of West Palm Beach and about 45 miles from Fort Lauderdale. Neighborhoods give the community a consistent, well-maintained character with paved roads and established landscaping.

The housing stock leans heavily toward single-family rental homes on generous lots, with townhomes and smaller apartment communities scattered throughout newer residential developments. A personal vehicle is essential here, but the trade-off is a low-density, semi-rural atmosphere that is increasingly rare in South Florida.
