Hello! We are an Oakland-based family with two elementary-aged kids, and we'll be away from Oakland from January - June 2025. We've lived in our home since 2015 -- it was fully remodeled at that time, and we have made many upgrades and expansions over the years. We're hoping to find a renter who can enjoy the space and also take care of it well. The home will be fully furnished and includes utilities (water, electricity, gas, internet), regular cleaning services, and landscaping. The house is centrally located in the Grand Lake neighborhood of Oakland, between Grand Avenue and Lakeshore Avenue. The house is walking distance to grocery stores (Safeway is a 5 min walk and Trader Joe's is less than 1 mile away). It is walking distance to many of Oakland's best restaurants, coffee shops, bars, the movie theater, library, parks, and more. You will also be walking distance to Lake Merritt, which is perfect for walking, running, biking, or visiting the farmers market on weekends. This neighborhood is considered very walkable in Oakland. You will be less than 1 mile from the 580 freeway and 15 minutes from the Oakland Airport headed south and 10 minutes from Berkeley headed north. There are several bus routes that connect the Grand Lake neighborhood with downtown Oakland, downtown Berkeley, downtown San Francisco, and BART. The area is also very bike-friendly for transit and commuting. The home is fully furnished and includes 4 bedrooms, 3 full bathrooms, 1 dedicated office, an open format kitchen/dining/living room, and a family/tv room that opens to the large, fully-landscaped backyard. There is also a furnished roof deck that can be accessed from the garden or from the office. The home is approximately 2,300 square feet and the property is over 7,000 square feet. The downstairs floor plan includes: * A dedicated entryway + shoe storage + large hallway closet. * 1 bedroom with a queen bed, large closet, and desk. * Open-format kitchen, dining and living room: The living room has a working gas fireplace and comfortably seats 8-10 people. The dining table seats 8, and the dining area has a large wine/beverage fridge. The kitchen has a large island with bar seating for 2 and plenty of counter space and storage. The kitchen is fully stocked with dishware, cutlery, pots/pans, baking sheets, appliances (e.g., Instant Pot, Kitchen Aid, Vitamix blender, microwave, toaster oven, etc.), and more. There is a separate pantry for storing dry goods as well. * Family/TV room: This room is part of a brand new home addition and includes seating for 8-10, two couches that convert to beds, a large TV/soundbar set up, and electric fireplace. The room has french doors that open directly to the back patio. * 1 full bathroom with two sinks and a tub. The upstairs floor plan includes: * 1 primary bedroom, with a large walk-in closet, California king size bed, and dressers/night stands for additional storage. * 1 primary (ensuite) full bathroom with two sinks and a tub. * 2 additional bedrooms, each with full-size beds, large closets, and small desks. * 1 hallway full bathroom, including a tub. * 1 laundry room with large stacked washer/dryer, laundry sink, storage, and built-in drying rack. * 1 dedicated office with standing desk, sofa, and direct access to the roof deck. The backyard includes: * Multiple tiers of patios and usable spaces, including access to the roof deck. * High-end gas grill plus 'Big Green Egg' smoker * Outdoor dining area that seats 8-10 with built-in overhead electrical heater * Gas fire pit and lounge area that seats 8-10 * Large double hammock * Outdoor foosball table * Moveable outdoor space heaters and sun umbrellas for varying weather types. * Roof deck (accessible from the garden) with seating area Garage: No access, as this space will be used for owner storage during the rental period. Parking: There is one dedicated parking spot in the driveway, with electric vehicle charging access. There is also street parking, with one of the spots in front of the house typically available. (Our family has two cars, and we park one in the driveway and one on the street, and we haven't had any issues over the years.) Security: The home has a security system, and also multiple exterior cameras. Pet policy: We welcome your pets, but ask that you take extra care in making sure the home and furniture are protected. Heating/Cooling: The house has central heat in addition to two working fireplaces (one gas fireplace in the living room, and one electric fireplace in the family/TV room). The house does not have central air conditioning (standard for this neighborhood), but there are ceiling fans most of the rooms and standing fans available. Showings will be available starting September 15, 2024. The preferred lease start date is Jan 1, 2025, and the preferred lease duration is 6 months. Grand Lake, sometimes referred to as the Grand Lake District, is one of the last remaining historic areas of Oakland. Nestled along Interstate 580 in northern Oakland, you’ll recognize the area for the unmistakable Grand Lake Theater.
