Marc Richmond spent his childhood years in Germany, Maryland and Pennsylvania, then his early career in Pennsylvania, Colorado, and California, but has been a proud Austin resident since 1996. Marc is also responsible for guiding the development of California’s residential green building program, Build It Green, which has trained thousands of builders, architects, engineers, and realtors, set the de-facto residential standards for green building in California, and certified over 125,000 green homes. He is a nationally known expert in the green building field, and has written numerous articles and made significant contributions to numerous reference books in the field. Marc graduated with a BA in Economics from Moravian College in Pennsylvania, and MBA in International Business and an MAPP in Energy & Environmental Policy from Claremont Graduate University in Southern California. Some of Marc’s professional certifications include: LEED AP (1998), CGBP (2004), GPR (2007), Cal-HERS (2008), BPI-MF (2010), NAR-GREEN (2015), and NAR-GRI (2016). He was the first co-chair of the USGBC LEED Residential Committee from 1998-2000 and served on various technical subcommittees for LEED Commercial. While working as a REALTOR® in Austin, Marc continues consult with and train a wide range of REALTORS® and building professionals locally and throughout the nation. He is the sole trainer for Build It Green’s CGBP and GPR designations throughout California and is one of a small handful of trainers certified to teach the National Association of REALTORS® GREEN Designation course throughout the country.
