The wooded, scenic hills of Woodbridge provide an impressive setting to call home. Adjacent to New Haven, it is a popular location for faculty of Yale University. It is also convenient to the University of New Haven and Southern Connecticut State University. The natural beauty includes waterfalls, lakes, and woods in Sperry Falls Park and Naugatuck State Forest Quillinan Reservoir Block – a 5,000-acre forest with hiking trails, snowshoeing, and mountain biking.
Originally called Amity, Woodbridge has a fascinating history dating back to the mid-1600s. It was a hideout for the Regicides, three of the judges who signed the death warrant of King Charles I after his trial, only to have the monarchy restored in 1660 with King Charles’ son taking his father’s place on the throne. Rather than stay in England and face certain death, they fled to what is now Woodbridge.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
