About This Home
Kaneohe Bay Retreat – 2 BR / 2.5 BA | $4,000 + Utilities & GET | Unfurnished (Great for Military) Location: Quiet street off Lilipuna Drive overlooking Kaneohe Bay Wake up each morning to sweeping panoramic views of Kaneohe Bay—sunrises, sailboats, and the ever-changing colors of the windward coast. Perched high above its neighbors, this home offers the feeling of a private treehouse or mountaintop penthouse, surrounded by tropical greenery and sky. From its wrap-around lanais, you'll look straight across the bay to MCBH Kaneohe Bay. Highlights: 2 Bedrooms 2.5 Bathrooms Approximately 1,800 sq ft (one room reserved for owner storage) Split A/C in Primary Bedroom One dedicated parking space plus easy street parking Wrap-around lanais with over 800 sq ft of outdoor living space Large covered area below the home (approximately 800 sq ft) – great for entertaining or covered parking Half-acre lot with hillside privacy Brand-new cooktop, new fridge, new clothes washer, etc. Pets allowed This residence is part of a larger three-bedroom home, but one bedroom is reserved for the owner's personal belongings. Otherwise, you'll enjoy the full home—a spacious living room opening to panoramic lanais, an airy kitchen, two comfortable bedrooms, and a guest half bath. The primary suite features split A/C and an en suite bathroom with a giant shower. The second bedroom has a full bathroom immediately adjacent. The home is rented unfurnished, except for a curved flat-screen TV with stand. Like a treehouse in the sky, this home offers one of the most incomparable views of Kaneohe Bay. It is situated above neighboring homes, providing exceptional privacy while remaining close to shopping, beaches, hiking, and everything the Windward side of Oahu has to offer. We prefer military renters because of the home's proximity to MCBH, but are happy to consider anyone with strong references and credentials. The home is ideal for a couple wanting extra space or two people sharing the entire house. It can also work for a family; however, because there are significant rock drop-offs around portions of the property, it is not recommended for families with young children. Pets are welcome, although owners should be aware of the property's terrain. I am the owner. My work will be taking me to the mainland and overseas for extended periods, and rather than leave my home vacant, I would prefer to rent it to people who will enjoy and care for it. If I find the right tenants, this could become a multi-year arrangement, although the specific duration would be discussed together. This remains my primary residence, so one bedroom is reserved for my personal belongings. I will not be staying at the home during your tenancy or visiting without prior notice. A trusted local friend will assist with any property needs while I am away. Additional features include: Wrap-around lanais on the main living level More than 800 square feet of outdoor lanai space Approximately 800 square feet of covered open area beneath the home, perfect for entertaining, storage, or covered parking Small backyard and usable side yard areas Half-acre property, with much of the hillside remaining natural, creating additional privacy For transparency, there are a few things prospective renters should know. The home has one of the steepest driveways on Oahu. I cannot emphasize this enough. I personally no longer drive up the driveway. Instead, I park in the designated parking space below and walk approximately 90 steps to the house. Most visitors—including delivery drivers—agree that the spectacular view is worth the climb, but anyone considering the property should be comfortable with stairs. With a capable 4WD vehicle, it is possible to drive to the covered area beneath the home, where there is room for two vehicles. There is also parking below and along the driveway itself. However, I generally recommend parking below and enjoying the short walk. The rental price reflects several maintenance items: Portions of the lower lanai deck require plank repairs, and some sections are currently not usable. The large covered area beneath the home remains fully usable. The interior could benefit from repainting, and the exterior could use a fresh stain. Because the home is built on a steep hillside, there has been some minor, non-critical rock movement from previous storms. Despite these items, the home is comfortable, functional, and has been enjoyed by previous tenants. Please note that the home is not well-suited for people who have difficulty climbing stairs or for families with very young children. Lease Details: Rent: $4,000/month plus Utilities and Hawaii GET Unfurnished (except curved flat-screen TV with stand) One dedicated parking space plus street parking Pets considered Contact owner directly to schedule a viewing Serious inquiries only, please. Strong references and credit are appreciated.

Kaneohe sits on the windward side of Oahu, tucked between the Ko'olau Mountains and Kaneohe Bay, where the scenery feels more like a quiet corner of the island than anything you'd find closer to Honolulu. The lush, rain-kissed landscape gives this town its famously green hillsides and a pace of life that runs a little slower and a lot more grounded. Windward Community College anchors the area educationally, while Marine Corps Base Hawaii brings a steady institutional presence that shapes much of the local economy and community rhythm.
Neighborhoods range from hillside pockets with sweeping ridge views to bayside streets just minutes from the water, offering real variety within a relatively compact setting. The housing mix reflects that range, with single-family rentals, plantation-style cottages, and low-rise apartment communities filling in the landscape alongside newer townhome developments.
