Our house (in one of the safest sections of Philadelphia) borders the largest landscaped urban park in the world, but is also just a block from a train station that will put you in the center of the city in fifteen minutes. It is between Thomas Jefferson's Philadelphia U. campus, Drexel Med School campus, PCOM, and close to Saint Joe's U., Temple, and LaSalle U. Offered are four furnished bedrooms (with closets), and full use of the living room, kitchen and dining area, and the quiet backyard. On the banks of the beautiful Schuylkill River, Fairmount Park, 4 miles from the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and 6 miles (15 minutes) from the Liberty Bell in Center City Philadelphia, PA, the neighborhood of East Falls has a vibrant residential community, with an arty feel, small shops, bars, and restaurants. It is the urban village on the river. Do you like nature? Fairmount Park, two blocks from your door, is the largest landscaped urban park in the world. It occupies some 9,600 acres and is comprised of a system of 63 parks. It contains several million trees; the oldest zoo in the U.S.; Boathouse Row; cherry blossoms to rival those along D.C.'s Potomac Basin; Robin Hood Dell, an outdoor venue for soul-filled summer singers; the Mann Music Center, the Philadelphia Orchestra's (and others') summer amphitheater; picnic areas; tennis courts; miles of bicycle paths; bridle paths; an azalea garden; hundreds of statues and monuments; and two dozen or so 18th- and 19th-century buildings, which comprise an unusual historical patrimony. Do you like to ride bikes or run? The Schuylkill River Trail is a multi-use trail along the banks of the Schuylkill River two blocks away. Partially complete as of 2016, the trail will ultimately run from the river's headwaters in Schuylkill County to Fort Mifflin in Philadelphia, a distance of about 140 miles (230 km). This is perfect for a healthy and safe bike ride. Do you like beer? Check out Wissahickon Brewing Company... a family-owned brewery that officially opened April 2017, and is just five blocks from the house. They have different food trucks every day, and events all year long. Manayunk Brewing Company is about a mile away and has a great food and beer menu. Murph's (Billy Murphy's Saloon) is a short walk, and it's where the locals go... One block from the house is the East Falls train station that will get you to center city in 15 minutes, or to Temple University in 7 minutes. You are also just 2 miles from Main Street Manayunk and 6 miles from Chestnut Hill - both of which are a short Uber ride away. However, you walk just down the street to reach the Schuylkill River Trail / Fairmount Park / Falls Bridge.
