Built atop a massive iron ore deposit, the city of Hibbing is home to the largest open-pit iron mine in the world and world-famous singer-songwriter Bob Dylan. The city was founded in 1893 by Frank Hibbing – though its present day location is actually two miles south of where it had been originally settled. The childhood home of Bob Dylan is a popular destination for fans of the musician and Nobel Prize-winner. You can walk by his house on the town’s Bob Dylan Walking Tour, and view his collection of work at the local library.
