About 2424 4th St Santa Monica, CA 90405
Charming, classic Ocean Park/Santa Monica Triplex CRAFTSMAN-style architecture. $ 3580 to 3880 (see below). Storage available. The Apartment: This large one bedroom with bonus room/office is on the ground floor with its own private entrance in this historic triplex. It is more like a home than an apartment. Private backyard features fruit trees and BBQ options. Only two other apartments share this quiet, tranquil space. Fully loaded, large galley-style kitchen with original 9 foot ceilings and butcher block counters. Opens up to sea breeze and backyard (1000 sf) through double French glass doors. There are original hardwood floors and vintage detailing throughout this beach house apartment. - Enclosed sun porch/office has morning sun and windows on three sides. This is the bonus room addition added circa 1920. - 30 sf walk-in closet. - 56 sf storage. - Brass roll-away bed for guests hidden under stairs. - The built-in China cabinets and bookshelves, as old as the house, define the rooms and character of the place. The Area: Ocean Park, a small neighborhood subdivision of Santa Monica, is rarely hot (ocean breeze), has good air quality and offers great access to the outdoors: beach, boardwalk, 18 mile bike path, volleyball, surfing and local businesses. It is the only part of Santa Monica where you can walk to the sand and surf without crossing a major highway. It takes just a few minutes from our place. On a street with historic single family homes and apartment buildings, this house has kept the vintage feel of its 104 year old soul. It is a very cheerful place, made entirely of old growth California wood, on top of the first hill from the water's edge. The daily breeze is the best. The house is four blocks from the beach and three short blocks from Santa Monica's vintage/chic Main Street with tons of coffee shops and good food. There are 5 star restaurants, singing bars and taco stands up and down the street, as well as locally owned and appointment-only clothing shops. It is a weekend destination for people who live further inland as it is usually 20 degrees cooler than places just a mile from here because of the water. There are three parks in the immediate area and three Farmers Markets each week with locally grown produce and entertainment. This is a terrific place to eat, live and be healthy. From here, it is a 15 minute walk to the famous Santa Monica Pier, 21 alternative and main stream cinema screens and The 3rd Street Promenade, a tourist-famous, brand-name shopping mecca. Transportation improvement has been the focus of Santa Monica for the last several years. The following are four options for those wishing to leave their cars and be free to go where ever they choose: Santa Monica is a testing ground for all the newest forms of locomotion: - Text "Free Ride" to take a 6-seater golf cart to beach, shopping, grocery store, movies, restaurants, etc. -City Bike Share w/ 500 bikes have a hub 5 houses up from here. -Uber bikes/scooters are everywhere and can take you to Venice in 5 minutes. - New Expo train line to downtown LA in 47 minutes. - 1/2 mile to US-10 (Santa Monica) freeway if you do want to drive. - Four miles from the largest boat and yacht marina in California. This apartment is more intimate (only 3 units in the building) and has more character and more privacy than the larger 10-50 unit complexes. The yard is quiet and lovely, a hummingbird sanctuary in the summer. The bonus room was originally a sun porch and makes a great office. The additional square footage and ground floor entries makes it of comparable size and feel to 2 bedroom places in the area. Cars: Gated, off-street parking is available. Permit-only street parking is also available and plentiful. Many forms of alternative, easily accessible transportation are provided in this neighborhood. For some, the trend is moving toward not owning vehicles. Santa Monica and downtown Los Angeles are easy to access with the new transportation options. Thus, the following choices: Terms: $. 3580 option for street parking which is permitted for residents and guests. $. 3880 option for gated, off-street parking. Two month security deposit. Lease flexible. Storage available on property. By appt. leave a message
