As the hub of one of the largest cities in Arkansas, Downtown Springdale is experiencing a renaissance. The city began here in the 1850s, then called Shiloh. Today, the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History explores the history of the region. Downtown Springdale still functions as a transportation hub for the region and is part of the Arkansas Heritage Trails System. Known as the Poultry Capital of the World, Downtown Springdale is home to the Tyson Foods headquarters. Tyson is the city's largest employer with more than 4,000 employees.
Living in Downtown Springdale provides a little of both country and city. This is the heart of the city, but it is tree-filled and picturesque. Downtown Springdale is home to the Jones Center, the Arts Center of the Ozarks, the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History, the Downtown Springdale Farmers Market, and even free yoga in Shiloh Square. Arvest Ballpark appeals to sports fans, home to the Northwest Arkansas Naturals Minor League Baseball team.
