Located directly west of downtown Knoxville and north of the University of Tennessee, Fort Sanders is a haven for college students and recent grads. Fort Sanders is named after a Civil War Union bastion that once stood near the center of town, and the neighborhood’s history runs deep. In what isn’t taken up by apartments or historical homes, you’ll find an expansive hospital and many doctors’ offices in town.
