Downtown Martinsville says it all -- this city is rich with history, charm, and that small-town sense of style. But this Indiana gem has a quirky side. Founded in 1822, it is home to one of Indiana's few remaining pre-Civil War courthouses -- an impressive brick Italianate building completed in 1859. From the late 1800s to around 1968, visitors from all over came to Martinsville for its mineral water health spas, giving the city the slogan, "Martinsville City of Mineral Water."
Back in 1899, Grassyfork Fisheries was established in Martinsville by Eugene Shireman. These fisheries, created from swampland, transformed the landscape of Martinsville, and many of the fisheries still exist (especially in the Shireman subdivision). These fisheries gave Martinsville another slogan: "Goldfish Capital of the World." Today, the businesses are more commonplace, ranging from locally-owned bakeries and gift shops to cafes and restaurants.

Property Ratings at 185 - COUNTRY VIEW APARTMENTS
I've lived at Country View for 3 years now. The property is well kept. Office staff is always friendly and helpful. Maintenance is timely and friendly. I can honestly say Country View is by far the best apartment complex in Martinsville!
My wife and I have been here for little over a year and still enjoy living here immensely. We have been impressed by the living conditions. Our apartment easily exceeded the expectations of others that we looked at, and the place has been well kept since we moved in. But I think the real reason this place stands apart from others is the staff in general. When we moved in, the manager was very warm and welcoming/accommodating, and that has remained true over time. The maintenance is worth more than five stars. I remember where we lived before this, and getting someone to come by to fix something was an ache and a chore. Here, on multiple occasions, the response has been arguably lightning fast. Once, the heater went out and I called the emergency number. Less than an hour later, I had heat back. Sink leaked and less than 24 hours later, sink fixed completely. Combine that efficiency with the overall friendliness, and mix that in with the overall quality of the place, I really don't see why you would pick another place over this.
Every time there is a maintenance issue, it is completed either that day or the very next. The area is quiet and safe and very kid friendly. What really makes this place is the staff. The office personnel asks about my kids when I see them. The maintenance men Wayne and Dave are very knowledgeable and are quick with advice to fix small things myself. They always wave when I drive by. This is one of the best friendliest apartment complexes around. Very safe and kid friendly.
We are living in the greatest apartments. We moved in in January from Minnesota. The management team has been really helpful with everything. The view is the greatest. Its quiet with no troubles. The best we could ever ask for.
While there are not many apartment buildings in Martinsville, Country View is the best in town. Pros- Spacious Apartments, Reasonable monthly rent, and Good environment. Cons- They tell you that you don't pay for water, but there is a monthly STUBS bill, Parking is scarce at times
