Macomb is a township north of Detroit, located in Macomb County. The land was settled by early farmers seeking flat, fertile farmlands, such as those at the base of the Clinton River. Lumber and logging was a major economic industry in Macomb history. After the trees were cut, the timber was transported south from nearby Ray Township, down the center branch of the Clinton River and into the local sawmills. The route became known as Romeo Plank, as it’s still called today on the now-street.
You’ll find a plethora of modern amenities, such as restaurants, furniture stores, and entertainment. Many golf courses are located in Macomb, and include Cracklewood Golf Course, Bello Woods Golf Course, and Hickory Hollow Golf Club.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
