The area has always been known for its tree-lined streets, great restaurants and bars, and boutiques. It is well known for being a very safe and walkable neighborhood but is also close to several EL train and bus stops for those who prefer public transportation. Most residents agree it's quiet enough to sleep at night but lively enough during the day to keep you entertained! There are several parks in the neighborhood, including Winnemac Park, Welles (Gideon) Park and Chase park. Each of these parks offer a wide variety of activities for all ages, including outdoor concerts, plays and sporting events. Just up the road, you will find Caldwell Woods, a massive forest preserve with hiking trails and picnic areas where you can enjoy the outdoors year-round.
