About This Property
(860) 233-5000 - The Yellow Whitney - Luxury West End Apartment - Welcome to The Yellow Whitney. This property over the last three years has gone through a historic whole house restoration that is almost never seen in multi-families. The house and neighborhood have recently been classified as a historic district and everything has been done to bring back the original details, master craftsmanship, and character that were there when this Victorian was built in 1902. The interiors and mechanicals have been completely updated for today’s living. This is a one-of –a- kind apartment that combines both modern efficiencies, open layout, and old-world charm. It’s also very rare to find high-grade finishes that are often only done in new luxury apartments or higher-end owner-occupied residences. The Yellow Whitney is our inspiration and model for our other multi-family projects. The exterior renovation is about four weeks from being complete, but already the Yellow Whitney is beaming with confidence from the new red cedar shingles and restored accent trim. There is dressy copper flashing throughout including a copper side roof. There are mahogany bead board that decorate the roof and porch ceilings and are a staple of the nicest West End homes. All the railings and balusters are being replaced with original period wood and design. The front porches have new tongue and groove fir floors. Almost all the wood used in the restoration has been custom species, size, dried, and purchased from a local mill. The real pleasure is walking into the apartment and seeing that almost the entire living/entertaining space has been opened and flows seamlessly through the living, dining room, and kitchen. The original red oak floors bring warmth and have been woven into gorgeous fir flooring in the bedrooms. The high smooth ceilings with the 20+ windows make the space feel even larger and bright. We installed all LED lights, including recessed ceiling lights (on dimmers) and special ‘school house’ lights over the island, entry and, bedrooms. The open living space is great for entertaining and having the ability to be all together, yet in separate rooms. The kitchen is the real highlight - custom high-end cabinets with self-closing drawers/cabinets, skyline design upper cabinets, matching pantry, and a center island with under mounted sink and beautiful Kohler stainless steel faucet. The island comes with three pottery barn stools and is great hangout/work space. There are all stainless-steel appliances including a 36” French door refrigerator and double oven gas range (rare for apartment to have a gas stove). There is also a dishwasher, disposal and space saver SS microwave. To finish the kitchen there is a tumbled stone backsplash. The bathroom is also pottery barned themed with a subway tile shower, niche shelf, extra wide cast iron tub and a rain forest shower head. There is an oversize vanity for storage with a Carrera mable top. The original radiator was restored and hangs from the wall and is a piece of art. There is another intricate radiator in the kitchen that must not be missed. The apartment has all new electrical and a new high efficient gas boiler that is over 92% + efficient. Again, something that you normally would not see in an apartment. The heating bills are very reasonable. There is charm throughout with the radiators, original 6” wide baseboards, federal trim and casings, crown molding, large fireplace and surrounding built-in cabinets. There a convenient laundry room inside the apartment with custom storage cabinets and glass top machines included. There is also new composite rear deck. The best part of the apartment is that you are on the West Hartford/Hartford line in superb location that is walking distance to Elizabeth park, and popular West End hangout spots like Mo’s (best breakfast in the area), Tisane, Tangiers. All walkable. Enjoy the fields, yoga, summer concerts, rose gardens at Elizabeth park. A short drive (6 minutes) and about 3 miles away is West Hartford Center/Blue Back Square. UConn law school is two blocks away. Easy access to highways and downtown Hartford. Please keep in mind we have strict application process that focuses heavily on credit. There is a credit, background, employment and income verification. Pets considered on a case by case basis. Tenant pays for electric and gas. Owner pays for water, snow and lawn care. The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
