About This Property
Live the Austin lifestyle in this totally cool and unique home set on the top of a hill, closest to downtown, in the coveted Zilker neighborhood. With a huge 2000sq ft front yard, mature native landscaping, 40+ trees including two heritage live oaks, multiple views of downtown, and an infinity edge modern pool with hot tub, this is a lush oasis just steps from everything downtown has to offer. A 1/2 mile from the Town Lake Hike & Bike trail, 8/10 of a mile to Zilker Park, you can walk to Austin's best restaurants, entertainment, and all the food trucks on Barton Springs Road. The house itself was named 'Austin's Healthiest Home' by the Austin American Statesman, and is a model of high quality craftsmanship. Built out of ICF blocks, the walls are breathable, non-toxic, fireproof, and capable of standing up to a 200mph straight line wind. The modern architecture, courtesy of award-winning Rice University architecture professor Gordon Wittenberg, brings in loads of natural light and highlights the downtown skyline and the large trees surrounding the property. With a 550 square foot guest suite, complete with full kitchen and bath, as well as a 160 square foot permanently attached tiny home (also compete with kitchen and bath), is perfectly set up for entertaining guests (without sacrificing privacy, as both units have their own private entrance). The house is partially wrapped in a reclaimed hardwood rainscreen, built from recycled Brazilian hardwood pallets, and the energy bills are supplemented by 55 solar panels on the roof. The property also has 5600 gallons of rainwater catchment, which can be used to water the lawn in the summer. This house is located on one of the only cul-de-sacs in the Zilker neighborhood, making traffic almost nonexistent. This space truly must be experienced in person to understand the uniqueness of the location and the tranquility of the space.

Located just across Lady Bird Lake from Downtown Austin, Zilker is one of the city’s most desirable neighborhoods. Zilker’s tranquil residential streets are complemented by walkable access to an array of shops and eateries clustered along South Lamar Boulevard and Barton Springs Road. However, Zilker is perhaps most famously regarded for its easy access to some of Austin’s best outdoor recreation at Barton Springs, Barton Creek Greenbelt, and Zilker Park.
The neighborhood was actually named after nearby Zilker Park, where exciting events like South by Southwest, Austin City Limits, and the Holiday Trail of Lights take place. The neighborhood has plenty of outdoor amenities itself, including the Umlauf Sculpture Garden and Museum as well as the expansive Butler Shores at Town Lake, which offers live performances at ZACH Theatre and scenic trails along Lady Bird Lake.
