About This Home
Property Id: 2771976 Status: Available Rent: $800 Room #16 is on the ground floor of the Carriage House, a two-story 8 unit living space behind Crew House. Crew House is an 18-room co-living experience where good people, great energy, and a real sense of home come together. Between the main house and the back “carriage” house, Crew House offers 18 private rooms for rent, along with shared access to a fully equipped kitchen, four full bathrooms, comfortable common living areas, and on-site laundry facilities. Rent includes high-speed Wi-Fi, a wide range of utilities, off-street parking and much more. Arcata’s historic Crew House was established in 1977 in the neighborhood surrounding Cal Poly Humboldt, then known as Humboldt State. Originally built in 1904, the home was purchased in 1977 by O’Rourk Swinney, co-founder and coach of the university’s first crew program. Initially operated as a youth hostel — with rooms costing just $3 a night! The property soon became a shared living space for members of the crew team after Swinney invited student rowers to live there, giving the home its now well known name. By 1985, Crew House had officially evolved into the co-living residence it remains today: an 18-room home known for its diverse community of students, artists, working professionals, and creative individuals from a wide range of backgrounds. Crew House sits just up the hill from the Arcata Plaza and is within walking distance of downtown shopping, cafés, restaurants, and local businesses. Nearby neighborhood favorites include Los Bagels, Cafe Brio, Rita's Margaritas & Mexican Grill, as well as North Coast Co-op and Wildberries Marketplace — all long-standing staples of the Arcata community.
1390 I St is a house located in Humboldt County and the 95521 ZIP Code. This area is served by the Arcata Elementary School District attendance zone.

A town on California's North Coast that is home to California State Polytechnic University Humboldt, Arcata sits where nearly 800 acres of old-growth redwood forest begin at the city's edge and Humboldt Bay stretches just beyond the horizon. Daily life revolves around the historic Arcata Plaza -- a full city block of green space ringed by local restaurants, coffee shops, and independent boutiques. Neighborhoods like the university district and the bayfront area offer walkable streets and easy access to trails, markets, and the coast, all within a compact 12-square-mile footprint.
The rental landscape reflects the town's scale and character. Options range from smaller apartment communities, often just two stories tall. Cal Poly Humboldt is the city's institutional anchor. Arcata sits about 280 miles north of San Francisco along US-101, giving it a genuinely remote feel that shapes everything from the tight-knit community culture to the foggy, mild climate.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
