About This Home
The property sits on 15 acres, mostly wooded, with large gardens and open areas to explore, and is quiet escape from the city. The building is a former goat farm, but the goats are long gone, so we converted the barn into a two-unit rental in 2020. We're 1 mile from Strouds Run SP main enterance, and a short walk (~0.25 mi.) to the Thunderbunny Trailhead that connects to the Strouds Run SP trail system. The East State shopping center, OU, and the freeway is a short drive, so easy access to everything you'll need.
Looking for a short term rental for Spring Semester? Available January 1 - May 3, 2027. This is perfect for people relocating to the Athens area, traveling for work, or a student in need of temporary housing, but we can usually accommodate most situations. We have a large studio apartment a short drive from campus and the East State shopping area, near Strouds Run SP. All the utilities and a washer/dryer are included for $400/week or $1100/month (willing to prorate). The apartment is fully furnished, and it includes full bathroom, tankless hot water heater, updated HVAC, reliable WiFi, docking stations with dual monitors, and a fully stocked kitchen. The open living area is spacious and flows into a larger kitchen, and it has full wraparound deck where you can often spot a family of deer wandering by. Since there is little light pollution, it’s great for stargazing too. The bedroom area features a plush queen-sized bed, toddler bed (can covert to a baby crib), and there's a twin bed inside a former walk-in closet if you have a guest visit.
13530 Scatter Ridge Rd is an apartment community located in Athens County and the 45701 ZIP Code. This area is served by the Athens City School District attendance zone.

Athens, Ohio, carries the kind of energy that only a college town rooted in deep history can offer. Ohio University, one of the oldest public universities in the country and the first institution of higher education in the Northwest Territory, shapes much of the city's identity and keeps the cultural calendar full year-round. From Boogie on the Bricks to Ohio Brew Week, Athens knows how to celebrate itself.
The city spans a compact 10 square miles, yet it packs in real neighborhood variety. The historic downtown core draws anyone who appreciates brick-lined streets and independent storefronts, while areas closer to campus offer a livelier, fast-moving atmosphere. Quieter residential pockets on the outskirts give the city a more relaxed, small-town character without straying far from everything.
The rental landscape in Athens reflects that mix well.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
