Starting just north of the popular Hyland Forest Park and following Murray Boulevard south to Scholls Ferry Road, South Beaverton is a large neighborhood about two miles south of Downtown Beaverton. This beautiful area features tall trees and winding roads lined with a mixture of older, ranch-style houses and newer modern homes. A large shopping area is located along the southwest edge of the neighborhood, near the intersection of Murray Boulevard and Scholls Ferry Road.
Taking full advantage of Oregon's natural beauty, South Beaverton is filled with parks. The largest, Hyland Forest Park, covers 30 acres and has about a mile of hiking trails, an innovative "off-trail play area," where visitors can use logs to build forts and interact with the forest in an unstructured manner. Apartments in South Beaverton are convenient to downtown as well as to nearby Portland – just take U.S. Highway 217 for about 10 miles.
