About This Property
Hi all! Basic Info: I'm looking for a housemate and have a master bedroom opening up at the end of July/beginning of August (application would have to be approved before Aug move-in). It's currently “$2800” but it’s actually $3000 for a 2-bedroom/1-bath because the manager adds $200 p/month for water, laundry, trash, gardening service, and garage access. I pay for internet and gas. I'm looking for someone to fill the larger of the two rooms ($1600 and $1400, respectively). They may raise rent at the start of the new lease, in which case you would have to be prepared to pay $1700 instead. I know it's pricey but that seems about average or maybe just slightly higher lately for nice single spaces in Santa Cruz ??. Looking for someone around my age, preferably (like 28-35), but can be flexible. All genders and orientations welcome. You must provide financial backing and an application this month (JUNE) in order to move in AUGUST 6. The Apartment: 1 of 3 units on site. The place is cute, has a small backyard patio and garden space, has new appliances, is close to Twin Lakes beach, Seabright, the Boardwalk, downtown, and is not terribly far from UCSC. There’s a small garage, a driveway parking space, and street parking is free with no time limits. It’s near the beach flats and lower Ocean. The bedroom is large and has served as a double before. It has a good size closet and two wide windows. It stays cool and has a modern fan installed, with a remote. The rest of the apartment does have central heating and AC (although I’ve never had to use the AC). It isn’t for people who want a ton of natural light tbh. I really like this apartment and that’s why I’m trying to keep it! I maintain it well and am generally clean. I don’t mind if a few things get left out or put off, and I don’t care if you work late, leave early, come and go, or cook/eat at odd hours, but keeping the space relatively clean is something that I value. Also, there’s a good taqueria, a corner store, a mercado, a taco truck, and other stuff a bit further up like Shopper’s Corner, The Buttery, Sala Thai, Beach Hut, and a few bus stops within walking distance. Close to parks and midtown area, too! Me: I’m Karina (she/her), a 29-year-old student in the cognitive science and psychology department. I have a little over a year remaining at the UC and hope to stay in the area after this program. I work helping my family’s cheesemaking and culinary education company and I’m currently searching for another job in the area. No misogynists or homophobes, please. Although I’m seeing a man right now, I’m bi and have LGBT+ friends, and although most of them don’t live here they may occasionally visit. You must be okay with occasional visitors. I welcome your guests as well! As long as they are respectful to us and our space. I spend most of my time studying, biking, cooking and trying to follow funny or dramatic TV shows despite my bad attention span. I love to cook and would love to live with someone who wants to collaborate or talk about food/recipes/restaurants. I eat healthy and sometimes food prep. One personal limitation is that I’m allergic to avocados (yes, very sad). I’m social; I go to restaurants, bars, shows, and events whenever I’m not too busy with work/school. I’m fairly active; I walk, bike, run, hike, or try to fit in something active regularly! Sometimes I do art and the garage is perfect for working on more creative or expansive projects. Applicants must apply this month in order to move in at the beginning of August. The manager is looking to finalize this listing ASAP. Evidence of income and/or financial backing are required, and a simple letter from a cosignor if you are a student. Thank you for your interest!

Bookended between Downtown Santa Cruz and Seabright, Riverwalk is one of the city’s most popular neighborhoods. The neighborhood is best known for being home to Santa Cruz Riverwalk Park, a 2.5-mile natural area with hiking and biking trails, exercise equipment, and views of the San Lorenzo River. Santa Cruz Riverwalk Park also encompasses several smaller neighborhood parks like San Lorenzo Park, where many food and drink festivals are held. Riverwalk houses many hotels, restaurants, government offices, medical offices, and a few retail shops. Residents also have access to an abundance of amenities in Downtown Santa Cruz and Seabright. Riverwalk is less than 10 minutes away from several beaches including Cowell Beach, Seabright State Beach, and the Santa Cruz Boardwalk as well. Great for students and faculty, the neighborhood is also convenient to the University of California Santa Cruz.
