Our cottage, being located on a small nature refuge makes it different from just about every other rental one can find. For this reason we have learned to mention a few things up-front. The cottage is centrally located within 9-square miles of horse-ranch and farm acreage. A surprising number of people need street lighting. In delightful contrast with most of South Florida, our nights are SO dark the stars are often crisply visible. Yet, if your fear of darkness is related to safety: Lovely Jupiter Farms is one of the safest places you can live in South Florida. A surprising number of people fear too much privacy. Our 2+ acres is deeply nestled in roughly 4 acres of surrounding woodland. A wealth of old trees cause the property itself to be invisible to neighbors and surrounding roads. As a final snap-preview, the refuge can guarantee upfront: Out of the thousands of rentals you may come across in your searches, odds are, this is the ONLY one where any evening you are sitting on your patio, surrounded by the hum of dozens of pollinators finishing their day in your garden when, a clapping of large wings causes you to look up. And there, not 30 feet away, you watch a great blue heron, or a drenched anhinga—or any one of a dozen or more regional wading-birds—just gaining sky above the pond with her, or her children’s, dinner. Finally, some may be disappointed to learn: By the very NATURE of a wildlife sanctuary, the hares, ducks, turtles, etc., who can be almost under foot at times, pretty-much rule the place. As creatures of genetic impulse, just the scent of a domestic animal can send the entire refuge into motionless lock-down for hours. This, unfortunately, has caused us to lose many a wonderful dog- or cat-lover. Those generalities made clear, we hope you will ask about such things as our unique plastic-, fluoride-, ammonia- and guaranteed bacteria-free, thrice-treated aquifer water. (Most tapwater in USA is variously polluted.) Or ask about our oversized parking area for your boat or camper (at mutually agreed-upon arrangement.) Or inquire about rent-adjusted work always available here at the refuge. Or ask to learn the secret route for walking or biking into luscious Riverbend Park straight from your cottage door without driving 4-5 miles around to the main entrance.
