Apartments in Polo Grounds are also convenient to CSU Bakersfield, located four miles south. A large shopping plaza on the southeast edge of Polo Grounds provides stores like Target, Home Depot, and Kohl's.

The intersection of Calloway Drive and Rosedale Highway holds the bulk of this area's attractions. J's Place serves as the go-to spot for Southern food in Polo Grounds, while Lengthwise the Pub draws a crowd and makes everyone feel welcome with its signature brews and laid-back atmosphere. North Rosedale Park and Riverlakes Ranch Park sit on opposite edges of the neighborhood. Each include playgrounds, sports areas, and picnic tables.
