Rated 3 out of 5?by Resident for 3 I live here now
I have lived at Wheaton Center for almost 4 years, having moved in at the time of the mass renovations to the outsides of buildings 1 and 3. My husband and I love our apartment, the fitness room (more on that), the location, and the community. After reading the review from Tower 1, I completely agree that the management (which has changed over several times since I have lived here) is horrible with communications. They do not pass on maintenance issues, and I have had to call (for the few maintenance issues that we have had) no less than three times before maintenance men show up. I should note that the Maintenance employees are efficient and friendly when they arrive and in passing, but I don't believe that they are receiving the calls. Also, management doesn't seem to find it necessary to fix the several machines in the gym that have been broken for periods of months to years, depending upon the machine (stationary bike has been broken for 2 years!!). They provide some good amenities, but they need to work better on service and upkeep. I've also heard that the rents are going to increase significantly in the coming year. IF this is true, I sincerely hope that these maintenance and upkeep issues are resolved, or this increase will be absolutely ridiculous.
Also, like Tower 1, we had some ridiculous issues when we moved in that lasted for about 4 months, and we're so happy to have them resolved and put behind us, but with the high turnover rate in the office, it's no mystery why there are mess-ups!
That being said, we have enjoyed living here - the towers are well built so that keeps noise (other apartments and the train) to a minimum, the gym is convenient, the Prairie Path is awesome, downtown Wheaton is beautiful, and the people here are friendly. We hope to stay, we just hope that the rising rents don't force us out!

Our experience with the Wheaton Center leasing office has been stressful and frustrating. There is minimal communication between the staff and the residence especially when there are issues regardless of severity. We experienced a range of issues during move in and our first few months. That said, once we made a strong effort escalating our concerns to the general manager and DK Living property manager, they worked with us to correct our situation.
The location of Wheaton Center is ideal. The facility is directly across the street from the Wheaton train station (noise is not as bad as you think) making a trip to Chicago incredibly easy. It?s a short walk to downtown Wheaton with all the shops and restaurants, great for Saturday mornings with the French Market open just down the street. The people that live here are incredibly friendly promoting a great community, and the maintenance staff is incredibly responsive to resident needs.
While we?ve had our trouble with management while living here, their actions to resolve our comedy of errors shows they do want every resident to call Wheaton Center home. The city of Wheaton, the convenient location, and the residents of Wheaton Center make living here that much more attractive. It is at least worth a trip to tour the facility and see for yourself.
