Yugo West Lafayette River Market

If I could give them a negative review, I would. They are not responsive to maint requests and will stick you with a bunch of charges when you move out! Place was spotless when my daughter & her roommate moved out but they still charged cleaning fees of almost $400 total and will not remove them. Worst management team as well, they are rude and not helpful. If you do choose to stay here, take lots of pics of the apartment condition when you move in and when you move out or you’ll be stuck!

I chose River Market for its location (within an eight minute walk to the Union), but I should've toured this place before I signed the lease. I live in a 1BR, which for being a 1BR, is fairly reasonably priced although I brought all my own furniture. The street (River Rd.) is incredibly loud during the day with semis and pickup trucks' engines and brakes, making it very difficult to concentrate. The hallways always smell funky because you get a mix of all the restaurants' fumes from below. The dishwasher DOES NOT work even though maintenance fixed it (they are very nice though!). I would not recommend this place to anyone. I know of other units in the area that are only $300 more but double the size and come with brand-new everything and furniture. There is also zero counter space so I hope you do not plan on cooking a whole lot.

I lived there for 3 years. When I first moved in, they were advertising on their website that amenities were updated. This was far from true, and has now been conveniently removed from the site. Management was horrendous and unhelpful. Walls are paper-thin and you can hear everything your neighbor many units down is doing. You can hear the people in the apartment complex down the street. God forbid you ever have a complaint, nothing will get done and no one will care. Maintenance fixed the black mold in my apartment by painting over it. The computer system they use for everything is always down and broken and you will get overcharged and constant emails about late payments even though you have paid. The "secure" door to get into the common area of the apartments is always broken. There are no lights in the parking lot. I could go into many more details about this place, but the bottom line is River Market is an unprofessional place to live and I would never recommend someone to live there.

The apartment itself is fine. It is in a good location and comes partially furnished with mostly undamaged furniture (my sofas had holes in them which isn't great for 1k a month, but caveat emptor). However, the property has no options for secure wifi short of a phone hotspot. Wifi is included in rent and my unit has a router inside, but it is an entirely unsecured network which means that it is unsuitable for schoolwork, banking/paying rent, or anything else that involves submitting passwords or financial data. There is no apparent way to change this through either the leasing office or the internet provider; when you call one they will ask you to call the other. It's unacceptable at any time, but certainly now (august 2020) when so much schooling is happening online.
