The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at Whiting Avenue Estates
Very outdated for the pricing. Do NOT live downstairs- you will hear everything and I mean everything. Management sucks. They don’t get back to you. Maintenance is your neighbor next door. Only thing kept up on this place is the lawn care. They raise prices way too frequently. Very money hungry cooperation. Will call you to pay rent before rent is even due. Would highly suggest going somewhere else.
Living at Whiting Avenue apartments was not ideal. The landlord was NEVER in the office, and maintenance was only there on Mondays, which was not enough considering how often we had issues with the extremely cheap appliances. The landlord would say things to us and then pretend she never said them, going back on her word, and screwing us over multiple times. Our rent checks got lost in the mail every other month, and we had to pay for them to be cancelled and required to mail new ones. We spent hours upon HOURS cleaning the apartment and got nothing from our security deposit back. We will NOT be coming back to these apartments and do not recommend anyone spending time living here.
This review comes after living in a 1st floor apartment for a year. Cons: 1.) The main reason for 1 star is the lack of quality when it comes to the ceiling and walls of the apartment. You'll be able to hear (and sometimes feel) almost every move your upstairs neighbor makes. Be it walking up the stairs or across the floor, it's quite easy to track them through the apartment. It often sounds like a bowling alley above my head, even shaking the walls at times (be careful if you like to hang things, especially on the wall along the stairs.) If they have a dog or kids (I got lucky on both), you're really in for a treat. Do you like to sleep? Too bad, because you'll probably hear any whistling, phones ringing/beeping, conversations and so forth. 2.) The garages that are lined in a row aren't individually sealed on the inside (the dumbest system I've seen yet.) It wouldn't be difficult for unscrupulous people to climb over the inside walls into the next stall, open the door from the inside and take your goodies. Lock your car door and don't keep anything you wouldn't mind losing in there. Management is fond of reminding you in their monthly newsletter to get renter's insurance. Pros: 1.) The apartments are visually appealing and I loved my kitchen area. Having a washer/dryer inside the apartment is always wonderful, too. 2.) The grass is kept nice and neat and snow removal is very quick. I never had any maintenance issues, so I can't comment on that. 3.) Rent can finally be paid online, which I love. If you're hoping to use a credit card for points, you'll be charged a 5% convenience fee (between $40-$50 depending on rent), so it's best to use your bank account info. Neutral: 1.) If you like nature (frogs, birds, etc) you'll love having the pond nearby. If you don't, have some background noise ready because it'll drive you crazy with how thin the walls are. Those critters are extremely loud at night. 2.) Large packages. The management office is almost always closed, so if you're used to having a central place to pick up large packages, that's not going to happen. Large ones will be placed outside your door. I've never had a problem here, but I know some people are uncomfortable with that system in an apartment complex, especially where 4 doors are very close to each other.
We have lived here for almost five years and the management has gone down hill. The management staff are rarely onsite now and are often rude when you contact the main office. They have lost rent checks (they used to have to be mailed) on more than one occasion and we have had to re-issue them. The new snow policy requires you to move your car out of the parking lot for extended periods of time otherwise they threaten to tow your vehicle. The paint was peeling on the garages and doorways for years, but they have finally repainted now. The retainage ponds have not been maintained and are now just insect breeding grounds and look terrible. There are must better options in Stevens Point and we will be moving soon.
I love my apartment. It is a little pricey for the area, but the quality of the building is worth it. There is tons for storage- great kitchen cabinets & large closets. The balcony is the largest out of all the places I have previously rented from. It is also well insulated...not drafty in the winter, and I never hear the neighbors. I have rented newer apartments in the area, and this location has the best features & layout by far.
This is a nice area and the apartments are taken care of nicely. Newer buildings, friendly maintenance and management and a nice workable layout. The only problem I've ever had is that some if the appliances and fixtures are cheap and need maintenance regularly.
Do these people ever answer the phone. Been trying to get a hold of the office staff to check for apt availability for the past week and only been able to reach the answering machine...still haven't received a call back.
They are very nice apts. The one we viewed was a bit too small for us. Nice area. We have decided on another place but we did appreciate the time spent with us on the showing. Thanks again Lewis and Marilyn McGinnis
Whiting Ave Apartments has been really great to me. I recently moved to the area and they couldn't have been more helpful. The office staff provided me with everything I needed in a timely manner. I have really enjoyed my time here and look forward to staying here longer.
