The base is home to the 101st Airborne Division, nicknamed the Screaming Eagles. Oak Grove is centrally located to several major cities, with I-24 running along its northern edge. Residents can reach Clarksville, Tennessee in less than 20 minutes, Nashville in less than an hour, Louisville is just over two hours, St. Louis in just over four hours, and Indianapolis, Indiana and Cincinnati, Ohio in four and a half hours.
With its open green space and hilly neighborhoods with homes perched on large lots, Oak Grove has a definite rural feel. There are a few stores and restaurants located near the intersection of Fort Campbell Boulevard and Segler Drive.
