An amazing sense of community and tradition characterize the Iron Horse neighborhood of Tucson. Situated near Downtown Tucson and the University of Arizona, Iron Horse provides an urban feel, and locals can walk just about anywhere they need to go within the neighborhood. Large apartment complexes sit with smaller buildings to give renters plenty of choices, all at affordable prices. The Iron Horse neighborhood takes its name from the railroads that still run nearby, and many local businesses reflect that history with train-themed bars and restaurants lining the streets.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at Westwood Apartments
They give you the option of Rhino to save on a security deposit but don’t tell you that you’re required to secure a Rhino policy that is more than the security deposit. The only parking is street parking. During the school week hs students make tons of noise since they park on this street too. There is an empty lot next to the complex that the students use to hang around during all hours of the school day and play loud music so just be aware that it is really noisy and students like to race up and down the street in front of the apartment (just a couple of weeks ago there was a hit and run). They closed the lot so now they park wherever so parking is almost non-existent during the school hours for residents. The windows in our apartment were old and had air coming in through the gaps so it was freezing with the gas bill reaching the $200s and still the house was cold even with all the vents closed except the bedrooms, the flow was not good and we asked for someone to look at it and all they said was there was nothing they could do. There is no lighting in the living room. No microwave and little to no counter space anyways. The picture we first saw had a kitchen bar and we were assured that the unit we would be living in had one and I double checked multiple times and they kept saying yes and when we moved in it did not have one. They told us we could move in to another unit but it wouldn’t be ready for a couple months. The lighting in the kitchen is decent but the light above the kitchen sink is almost like one that belongs in a bathroom because it’s a lightbulb behind a fake crystal bar and it just shines directly onto your face while washing dishes but the ceiling fan light alone is too dark to use. If you live downstairs then everything upstairs is audible and if you live anywhere near the stairs or gates you will hear them slam at all hours of the night. They claim this is a “gated community” but the lock on the gate is broken half the time so anyone can just walk in or people leave it propped open throughout the day so beware if you have packages sent! Washer and dryer are quarter operated and do the job but will likely require more than one load and each load is about $3 including wash and dry. It is nice to be able to walk down to the sunlink to get to campus but can be sketchy walking back at night. I don’t plan on renewing because they increased monthly rent by $100 with no additional perks, benefits, or improvements to current building.
