Beautifully-restored older homes fill the West End neighborhood of Winston-Salem, with enough apartment buildings to provide an affordable mix of housing choices. Specifically designed in the 1890s to take advantage of the neighborhood's natural hills, the curving streets of West End ensure that today's residents can enjoy the lovely terracing and gentle climb as much as the local dwellers before them.
This highly walkable neighborhood features art galleries, outdoor cafes, bars, funky antique shops, and restaurants galore. Locals recommend stopping in at Bernardin's or the Fourth Street Filling Station before heading back out to stroll under the old-growth shade trees. Peek inside some of the historic homes during holiday home tours, or join neighbors for baseball or holiday picnics in Hanes Park.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at West End Station
First day here I fell in love with my apartment! I wouldn't want to live anywhere else!

Thank you for this great review! We are pleased to hear that everything was up to your expectations. Thank you. - West End Station, Community Director
This complex has been -- by far -- the worst place I have ever lived. Moving from downtown Greensboro to be closer to work, I had hope and optimism that I would have a positive experience living in an increasing vibrant area. However, it has been anything but that. In nearly two years living at the complex, there's been numerous turnover of management but poor leadership remains a constant. While the units themselves are beautiful, everything around it deserves one star. The hallways smell awful. The gym equipment is breaking at a rapid rate and isn't being replaced. Park is a restricted mess. Emails from management are borderline unprofessional. Building security is questionable. Elevators are out of commission seemingly on a bi-weekly basis only for the stairwells to smell like urine with empty alcohol bottles everywhere. Ultimately, I simply can not wait until my lease ends and end this entire experience.

Very nice apartment building in the downtown area with amenities including a gym, pool, community areas and a coffee bar for socializing. Apartments have plenty of storage including numerous kitchen and bathroom cabinets and large walk-in clothes closets. Electronic security system and concierge trash pick-up are my favorite features. Administrative and maintenance staffs are pleasant and responsive to tenants needs. Highly recommend!

It is a nice community with great features and amenities. I recommend you get the community managers and assistant issue fixed soon for better service. Also, residents should get fines for not cleaning after their pets.

Thank you for this excellent rating! We are honored to have earned your high recommendation. - West End Station, Community Director
Would highly recommend not living here. I have been a resident since February of 2021 and it has been all down hill since then. There is constant turnover in the office and there has been 3 or 4 property managers within the last year. The entire staff has left in the last 3-4 weeks, leaving a backlog of maintenance requests. The elevators are constantly breaking. The surrounding area is often loud and noisy, and residents do not respect the property rules making it an uncomfortable place to live. Management has not found any resolutions for this. There are security and safety concerns that I have expressed to local and regional management, none of which have been addressed. Probably one of the worst properties in Winston-Salem.

Great location with beautiful kitchen and large bedrooms. Best layout I found while looking for two bedroom apartments in communities with the quality of amenities offered here. The details in the apartments and common areas set them apart.

My move-in experience was excellent. Vanessa made everything so easy and was extremely helpful with our tour, the application process, parking/unloading, etc... The apartment was in excellent condition and the few items that needed addressing were corrected immediately.
I have lived here for two months and am very pleased thus far. It's very quiet, valley trash is terrific, the office and maintenance personnel are kind and responsive. I hope the same level of service and care for the property continues, and highly recommend living here.

Prior to August 2020 I would NOT have recommended this place due to the horrific lack of competence and professionalism from the leasing office, but ever since our new community manager Vanessa joined things have gotten a lot better. Communication is prompt and clear, and issues are addressed swiftly and professionally. I'm still cautious about giving any strong endorsements, but I'm optimistic about the future of this place.

Among several issues, most recently & most concerning, there have been homeless persons entering our building and squatting in vacant units. Police were called earlier this week by other residents who heard noises next door in a vacant unit. 3 days later around 1:00AM, I had to call the police because the squatter who was banned from the property had returned and our building, which was not secured since the prior incident. After the police circled the building and left, another resident called the police because the nonresident knocked on their apartment door and was wandering inside the building. According to management, the person squeezed through the garage and since our elevators do not have fob-access, they accessed the third floor with no problem. Several residents and I have requested for additional security measures to be put in place, but either “it’s out of budget” or “we [management] will cross that bridge when it happens”. In other words, management and ownership of this property do not care about the safety and security of residents. It’s business as usual and all about the bottom line. I cannot wait for my lease to end as this has been a disastrous process and I will never live in a RangeWater-managed property ever again. Avoid at all costs if possible.

Thanks for bringing this concern to our attention. It is our goal to treat everyone, residents and guests with the utmost respect. We strive for continual improvement and welcome your feedback, so we apologize for any issues you’ve experienced with us and are sorry.
I am a current resident and my time here thus far has been decent. The apartments are beautiful inside and out but noise is a serious issue. I feel like we pay too much money to hear our above neighbors stomp around on every move they make. I guess it’s a design issue and the office staff doesn’t do much about it. As a heads up, if you don’t want to deal with noise above you every day, pay more money and try to live on the fourth floor.
