Property Ratings at Walnut Trail Apartments
I have lived here for three years and have really enjoyed it. The complex is well maintained and management has upgraded the exteriors of the buildings and made updates to some (or all) of the apartments on site. My apartment was nice but I believe the original cupboards and kitchen counter were still in place. It was very easy to apply for the apartment and they had such a selection of units to chose from. I preferred the expanded units for more floor space. The grounds are well maintained. The grounds crew work very hard with the landscaping, watering the grass daily in the summer time (it's so nice to not see brown grass!), and snow removal (parking lot and sidewalks) in the winter. Laundry rooms are very accessible in each building with four of washers and dryers. I have always felt very safe in this community and it is very quiet considering the number of units/people here and mix of single people, college students, couples with children, and older people. The only downside is the prices of all apartments in the Portage/Kalamazoo area. I would highly recommend this complex.

This place is over priced for what it really is. The rent increases every year (but they don't tell you that when you move in.) I lived there for three and a half years and everything started falling apart after about a year and a half. The cabinets under the sink have popped right off and when maintenance "fixed" them, the nails went right through the side of the cabinet. My man did a better job than maintenance did! I could go on, but I'm not going to. Just don't move here.
Moved here in March 2015 and live it here, it's very beautiful and is in the the middle of many places and activities, also the maintenance is awesome and quick! Love it here!
After living with my adult children and then my mother for the last four years, I moved on April 1, 2015 to Walnut Trail in Portage, MI. The grounds are world class, the maintenance is quick and efficient when needed, the swimming pool is WONDERFUL and my apartment is beautiful and only $525 a month! When my kids were growing up it seemed I couldn't have anything nice and now I am able to fill my apartment with beautiful things. I don't think I have ever been this happy! I wish I could attach a photo here to show you what I mean.
