The Harborside neighborhood, just a 15-minute drive from downtown San Diego, is located at the western end of Chula Vista near the San Diego bay. Residents can avoid traffic and easily reach downtown by taking the San Diego Trolley's blue line. The neighborhood has a large number of apartments and wraps around a park of the same name.
Harborside is located between L Street to the north, Palomar Street and Orange Avenue to the south, the bay to the west, and Third Avenue to the east. I-5 runs along the west side of the neighborhood, providing fast commutes to nearby San Diego.

Property Ratings at Vista Hermosa
After moving from the other side of Chula Vista, and after an exhaustive search for a safe area that didn't cost and arm and a leg, I found Vista Hermosa Apartments. Located close to three schools, you would think the area would be loud. I beg to differ. The schools in the area are well monitored by crossing guards and mindful parents. The parking lot is well secured and used a chip card entry for going in and out of the lot. Each space has been assigned recently and new numbers painted on each spot ( as of 8/15/15 ). When I moved in there was new management that had taken over a week earlier. The lady who manages the complex is helpful but very stringent on the rules where as it seemed the previous management was not. Since I have moved in, I have seen the complex take a 180 and have had nothing but positive experiences. Rent for a modest 1bd/1ba is about $1200. Neighbors are kind and quiet; Mostly small families and Military occupy the complex. The pool is regularly busy but not in a way that would make it hard to enjoy a dip. There are no Air-conditioners in the units but there is good air flow and a fan near the window will cool the place down a good bit. Most units have a porch or balcony (you are allowed sun shade fabric to give some privacy). All in all I would recommend moving in if you are looking for a place that is quiet, close to a school, and relatively inexpensive.
