Downtown Winston-Salem is the reason the city is known as an enclave for arts and entertainment. The heart of the city is filled with art galleries and studios, theaters, and entertainment venues. View a ballet at Stevens Center or a play at the Milton Rhodes Center for the Arts. Benton Convention Center and Millennium Center hosts a plethora of events each year from conventions to luncheons. Downtown Winston-Salem also has a lively nightlife and eclectic dining scene. Breweries, bars, and trendy eateries serving international fare are located throughout downtown. These excellent amenities combined with events like art festivals and farmers markets ensure that Downtown Winston-Salem is always exciting.
Attracting even more renters, the district is convenient to the Historic Town of Salem and several institutions including the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, Winston-Salem State University, and Wake Forest University.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at Village Lofts Apartments
I've lived in Village Lofts for over half a decade now- once you acclimate to the smaller square footage (which directly contributes to a lower price compared to comps in the area), you get the benefit of one of the best areas to live in in the city. One block from 4th St, right off the block of the arts district, and dead center of a very walkable city makes this space hard to match. Small spaces come with their own limitations- no in-unit laundry, no tub, look elsewhere for exercise options. But you can walk to 10 breweries, 10 coffee shops, great restaurants, etc. Management in this property has changed over recently- a new company came in, did many necessary facelifts, and raised rent. I'm pleased with the new direction and the new look, but maintenance now seems to be struggling to keep up. A shortage of appliances in the community laundry space makes the task take all day or more. Pair that with unanswered maintenance tickets and you're better off paying for a laundromat. Overall, if the lifestyle of holding onto less and living in a small space is worth the budget consideration, this property is highly recommended. I just hope the response of the new management company keeps up with the reality of a residential property this large.
