University Village - Carbondale, IL

Amazing property and staff. They are very helpful and patient. I would recommend everyone to live here.

I moved in to UV during my undergrad and have renewed every year through the completion of both of my graduate degrees. The property has been accommodating for all my needs throughout the years. The apartments, the property, the management, the maintence team - truly everyone here, are the absolute best.

I had the worst experience living in this property. The management matched me with a roommate who locked me out of my own apartment, damaged my furniture, and even told the police I didn’t live there. When I called the police for help, they told me it wasn’t safe for me to stay. I asked management to remove my roommate since I had done nothing wrong, but they refused to take action and instead forced me to leave. Instead of protecting a tenant who followed the rules, they enabled someone who harassed me and damaged my property. If you care about your safety and fair treatment, stay far away from this place.

I have lived here for almost two years. The workers in the office are wonderful and so good at communicating with their residents about things going on. It is in a perfect location to where you are still capable of being apart of things going on in town but also far enough away for some quiet. I have made so many memories living here and I couldn’t recommend it enough.

We have only been here since August and have had a multitude of issues. To begin the apartment was never cleaned from the old tenant. Who left beer bottles, hard drugs, weed, etc. It was completely trashed. We notified them, they claimed they would send maintenance but no one ever came. After cleaning the apartment ourselves, we notified the office that there was no hot water, the floor was peeling, the dishwasher was leaking water, and the door to the furnace was broken. Again, we were told someone would be sent but they weren’t. There’s more. The landlord noticed my girlfriend was here for a while visiting. She along with another young lady from the staff began banging on the door early in the morning. Being startled no one answered the door so they let themselves on. Initially she told us she could only stay for 3 days so we immediately started reviewing the lease. We saw something about 6 days which we didn’t quite understand so we asked about it and at that point were told that guests are only allowed 6 days for the ENTIRE YEAR! We tried to talk to her but it seems she took us questioning to the lease to offense and was so nasty towards us ever since then. My girlfriend left but they said she was still here and they would randomly come in to check if she was here. They did just that and found that SHE WAS NO LONGER HERE. They then informed me that she would be arrested if she came back. I don’t even understand how it escalated to this point.

Love the place, very affordable compared to evolve and the reserves. Having all the utility fees being included is also a plus unlike other places. Decent atmosphere with everyone around you and nice floor plan layouts. Only problem I have is the internet. Internet is not "high speed" like they had advertised since it is run by Pavlov. Internet tends to go out every other week or more. A good typical internet speed number is around 25mbps, the complex is running about 5-10mbps.

I love that everything is included in the price. I also like the computer lab with printing and the dog park. I've not had any issues living here and I love it so far.

Apartments feel more like a home with more private space and still close to campus. Pool and workout room are nice too.

I am currently a resident at University Village and I just signed my lease to live here again for another year. I have no complaints about UV. Maintenance is also quick, the office workers are always friendly and helpful, and I feel safe in my apartment. Despite covid, university village also still offers amenities and hold safe events regularly. I would recommend UV to all my friends!

This apartment is excellent because this a safe environment. I feel like UV at night is like gated and there is light and nice area by the fire place, making it a safe place to live. In Carbondale, it can be hard to find a place to live with the high crime rates, but UV feels safe, I've never had a problem.

Easily the best rental property I've lived in, and my wife and will rue the day when we have to move out after I graduate and find a better job. For me, the biggest plus is that the apartments are pest-free: so many local apartments, especially in the outskirts of Carbondale charge comparable prices, yet are infested with disgusting brown recluse spiders! This is not the case at UV! Everything is clean, maintenance responds and fixes things in less than a couple hours! The pool are is very nice, and there are a dozen or so events at the leasing office every month - free food, games.. did I say free food? Additionally, UV is incredibly pet friendly with no arbitrary rules such as maximum pet weight. And, they have the best Internet in town!

This has been my home away from home for 3 years while I was attending siu. They do awesome events every mo th that make the place feel a little bit more like a community which is nice. Your packages go to the office so you dont have to be afraid of someone snatching them from your porch. Handy men are very fast and respond to the work orders in a timely fashion...usually within 24 hours. The pool is super nice and feels very secluded and private. They have a dog run and a gym as well! The townhomes make it feel like you have an actual house instead of a tiny apartments with people above and below you. I love my place at UV and I will be very sad when I have to move after graduation in may :(

I love that UV tries to get to know all of their residents by planning extra events in the club house. One of my personal favorites is gift card bingo!! 25-50$ giftcard to places all over Carbondale is really cool just for winning a game of bingo.

This is a pretty great place to live. The have amazing events like the make your own pizza bar or chili cook off. They always have great things for residents to do and they offer free printing so you never have to go to campus and pay for printing. Prices are affordable and housing is pretty nice -Ademola Adeoshun

I moved into UV my last semester of my senior year in 2017 and it has been great ever since. I didnt have any problems with this place at all.And the staff has gotten to know me by my name because I was always receiving packages. there is always events taking place in the office and you can even win gift cards as well. the amenities are good as well. they are the only apartments i know that allows a electric allowance and now they are all inclusive. UV is a great place to stay and I made some great friends here as well.

I have lived here for a few years now, I love all the amenities that UV has to offer! My favorite amenity is the 24 hour business center with FREE printing!! The office staff is always friendly and willing to help! Also, I love how as soon as you call in a maintenance request they come fix it as soon as possible! I cannot wait to live on property another year!!

When I first thought about moving in to UV, I thought "omg. I'm going to hate it. The reviews are so bad but I waited too long to stay somewhere else." I have been living here since August of 2015 and have loved it ever since! The pool is so nice in the summer. Maintenance always helps when I can't do something. The staff is so nice to my dog and get to know each resident, 2 legged or 4. The electric overages can suck sometimes but it's way better than paying the entire bill. I'm excited to stay another year!

University Village is a great place to live! The staff in the office is friendly and the maintenance guys are super helpful. I like the tanning bed and gym since it’s 24hrs!

I have lived at Univeristy Village for 3 years now and I love it. It was one of the cheapest all-inclusive deals in Carbondale. I got a gift card for signing and the staff was really helpful in setting up my lease. I call them often if I need anything and they are more than happy to help! Maintenance is also very quick at fixing anything and everything I need help with around the apartment.

I absolutely LOVE University Village. The management is awesome as well as the staff. The property itself is always beautiful and really well maintained. The staff is super friendly every time I’ve been in the office. I love that these apartments are town house style apartments and that they allow pets. All of their amenities are absolutely worth the affordable price that you pay. I looked at a lot of the reviews on here and a lot of them are from before the changes were being made. I promise that this place has changed for the better. Compared to anywhere else in Carbondale, UV is the best choice, hands down.

This apartment is great and the area is nice. There is a nice size pool outside the court yard with a fire place that is available to the residents during the hours of operation. Also they provide a 24 hour fitness center to their residents. I love this area and they go through so much to make sure that their tenants have all that they need. Another great feature they included is making their apartments all-inclusive and providing a furniture package to the residents who don't have furniture.

So, far I've visited twice and have found this to be the best overall deal. Great prices, amenities and location. I can walk to class and everything else. I'm signing today! Can't wait to move in. Anyone need a roommate?
