Located about 100 miles north of New York City, nestled along the Hudson River, Kingston is one of Upstate New York’s most historic towns. Kingston was once the capital of New York State during colonial times and even houses the largest physical remnants of colonial life in the state. This quaint town offers affordable and upscale apartments and houses for rent. Kingston is best known for its old-fashioned, quirky downtown district, also known as Uptown Kingston or the Stockade District. This city center celebrates Kingston’s roots with historical markers, casual eateries in historic buildings, farmers markets, and cultural festivals. Although this town is very different from its New York City neighborhood with the same name, Kingston is about two hours north from NYC, the perfect distance for a weekend trip.
