Neighborhood

Whitfield, sometimes referred to by locals as Whitfield Estates, is a dynamic neighborhood off the Sarasota Bay filled with something for just about every resident. On the coast, places like the University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee Campus and New College of Florida Waterfront find their home, along with tourist attractions like breathtaking gardens and museums. This section of town also holds modern conveniences including the Sarasota Bradenton International Airport and the shops and restaurants along Highway 41. Additional retail centers, including the Shoppes at University Center, can be found farther inland along University Parkway. The western portion of town also features residential areas complemented by small ponds and lakes. Follow the allotted preferences given/chosen when tenant selects them. I chose that I be contacted via phone, because as always there is some form of miscommunication. Now I will possibly be without a light in my downstairs walk way how safe right. The email note I received says that the outside light was fixed and I'm sure pest control will not be out until Friday but they have marked that as complete! Meaning hopefully they will put me on the list to receive that service my thing is if I'm paying for outside and inside pest control how are the bugs getting in and why do I have to request service when they do either the outside isn't being controlled or it's just making the pest come inside and hide but I've had low income housing and have not had to deal with pests let alone requesting EVERYTIME for them to provide service and didn't pay for it. The only possibly done correct is that my water is SLIGHTLY hotter now and my guest bathroom.

The longer I stay here I see how bad od a job was done as my place was newly renovated when I moved in calk has fallen out of the overhead area of my Lanai area I see other repair spots where the paint is different texture my stair handle is detaching from the wall and it's been less than a year. The location of this complex is hard to beat. They are making updates to make the amenities more worthwhile and obviously trying to compete with other complexes. However the management is not very responsive or kind in face to face situations.

This place is expensive and caters to people who work days. My apartment was disgusting when I moved in and no one ever showed up to clean it properly despite my requests. The one bright spot of this place is that maintenance is wonderful! Do not move here if you do not like the smell of marijuana. My apartment always smelled like that because of the smell coming in from other apartments even though there is no smoking allowed.

Renters look elsewhere!!!

This property and the management company does not follow up with their customers. I looked at this property in July. It was not the right fit so I continued my search. Months later I received an email from a debt collection for $100 application fee. After emailing and calling for over three weeks with no returned calls to get the issue resolved there is no response from them. I would not rent anywhere that is going to damage your credit and not follow up the the potential tennant.

Overall the area and unit is nice. Don’t feel the apartment is worth the high rent. It’s an older establishment, close to a main road so it’s loud. But the new renovations make it tolerable.

Extremely disappointed with the front office staff

I moved in December 2022 and was given mailbox keys that did not work. When we first visited no one pointed out where our mailbox was or which one belonged to us. For MANY months I asked the front office for new keys and was helped once and was given a new set of keys that also didn't work. When I requested for more assistance or another set of keys I was told it was being escalated to management. More months went by with no access to our mailbox and we needed our mail, so we kept returning to the front office asking for help. Finally in the month of June 2023 we were taken seriously and Jessica one of the front office staff came out to show me where the mailbox was located and to make sure the key worked. It did not.She then promised me the key would be in my apartment the next day, two days later and still no key. I had to return to the front office asking for the key again. Jessica gave me one key and when I asked where my roommates key was she told me they could not make extras at the time. But I did not ask for extras, the apartment comes with a key for each person living in it so I was entitled to two mailbox keys. I also tried to handle this over the phone but they would almost never answer, I tried calling for 10 minutes straight a few times and nothing. Once you try to call them you'll realize they never answer the phone. Now that I finally have access to my mailbox, USPS left a note in there saying I needed to fill out a form to resume receiving mail because the mail had not been picked up in months. This is very upsetting because I am waiting on very important mail and now I'm unsure when I'll get it or if I even will. I hope this helps when your choosing a place to live.

DO NOT RENT HERE!

They will say anything to get you to sign then turn away. My apartment was filthy when I moved in even though I was told it was still being cleaned. There were holes in the walls, splotchy painting throughout and the baseboards were torn out and never replaced. I was told a cleaning crew would come but never did. It took a month to get the hole in my roof fixed. The grounds are filthy. There has been a pile of construction debris by my apartment for over 8 weeks. For the amount they charge this is not acceptable. Do your self a favor and rent somewhere else.

Management does not care about the quality

I’ve been living with a nuisance noise next door to me for a couple of months now. They acknowledged it is frustrating but it remains. The plumbing is terrible. I’ve never been able to use my garbage disposal without having everything clog up. There is moisture and mold in my air conditioning. The hot tub hasn’t worked in 2 out of the last 3 years. The pool is out of order frequently. All this and high rent that raises every year. The maintenance crew itself is made up of wonderful people. The corporate management company is horrible. I’m going to have to move. I need a peaceful living environment.

THEY SENT ME TO COLLECTIONS FOR OVER 3,000. 00 AND I NEVER EVEN STAYED ONE NIGHT IN MY UNIT WHERE THE MOLDED CARPET WAS AND THE BROKEN AIR UNIT

I Moved to Florida in 2014. Moved into a unit that smelled really bad. After tuning on the air in the apartment hours later, I noticed the carpet was soaked. We called management and had to rehire moving company to come back out the next day to remove all furniture back into a moving truck due to the air unit needing to be replaced. I then noticed that BLACK MOLD was growing all under the carpet and this was where the horrible smell was coming from. That evening after 11 pm, I was moved to a unit where supposedly their VIP stayed, after going into the unit, pulling the bed sheets back, the sheets had obviously been slept in several times, due to the dirtiness and hair on the sheets. The Bathroom was in the SAME CONDITION, multiple showers or baths had been taken and had never been cleaned. After going to the unit with mold and wet carpet to find clean sheets in my boxes , to sleep on at after midnight was too much. This was reported to management and she came in the next morning to see the uncleanliness, agreed and sent in housekeeping. The Next morning I had to pay movers to move everything back out of the unit and pay to have it stored on the moving truck, until the carpet and the unit was replaced. I was walking my dog one day and a neighbor mentioned that the lady that lived in the unit where I was moving into, where the Air unit had been leaking water under the carpet and there was mold everywhere, that lady was sick for a long time and even hospitalized and had to move and almost disabled. After 3 days of nothing happening and saying that they where only fixing the unit, the carpet was only going to be cleaned and the unit fixed not replaced, I went to the office turned in my keys and the company that I was working for canceled there check for my deposit and rent. Now I AM FINDING OUT ON MY CREDIT THAT THIS PLACE TURNED ME INTO COLLECTIONS, SO I WILL POST THIS DAILY UNTIL SOMETHING ELSE IS DONE. I NEVER STAYED ONE NIGHT IN THE UNIT THAT I PAID FOR AND WASN'T ABLE TO DUE TO THE MOLD AND SOAKED CARPET. THIS WAS A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE AND NOW I AM STILL DEALING WITH THIS APARTMENT COMPLEX YEARS LATER WITH NO ONE THERE THAT EVEN REMEMBERS ANYTHING ABOUT MY SITUATION. THIS PLACE HAS TURNED ME INTO COLLECTIONS FOR $3,000.00 PLUS DOLLARS EVEN AFTER HAVING TO DEAL WITH ALL OF THE ISSUES THAT I HAD.

Caution! Buyer Beware: Bait & Switch, Incompetent Staff & Unprofessional Management

First, Bait & Switch We were given our unit number and told we would have an updated unit with a remodeled kitchen (granite counter tops and glass top stove). When we were shown the unit we would be renting it was a Totally Different Unit number than originally given (odd). The Carpet had several STAINS including a Huge one in the center that appeared to be Dog Urine which left a very strong odor. The patios needed to be pressure washed. The kitchen was so outdated it looks like it hasn't been remodeled since they opened. The caulk job along the bathroom was RIPPED out and peeling. Needless to say, we could not believe this is what they would show Any Potential Renter let alone this be their idea of "Ready To Move In". Second, Incompetency & Failure to Communicate Throughout the entire application process it was impossible to get a hold of anyone over the phone or through email. We would try multiple times in a day and not once were we EVER contacted first. Each time we talked to the SAME front desk manager, she was clueless about who we were. Also, we had multiple SET appointments with this manager. The first time we showed up she didn't even remember us... Second time, she was a NO SHOW! We were left with an employee who worked one day a week and had ZERO knowledge of ANYTHING and was laughing about the apartment condition!!! Third, Unprofessional Experience At this point our patience had expired and we explained our frustration with our overall experience. We spoke directly to the main property manager who assured us she would take a look at it and calls us back the Next Day.... A WEEK LATER without a single call or update regarding our situation we reached out AGAIN to Finally withdraw our application.. $150 Down the Drain & Our Time WASTED with probably the Worst Staff Experience in the State of Florida! Don't Get Caught In This Trap... Move Along....
