Known as San Diego’s second downtown, University City is one of San Diego’s best places to live. Named for housing the University of California East Campus, University City is also known for being home to multiple medical facilities and technology companies. University City also has excellent public schools. Westfield UTC, a sprawling upscale mall in the center of the neighborhood, provides residents with upscale retailers, trendy restaurants, a year-round skating rink, and more. Renting in University City places you minutes away from the amazing outdoor opportunities SoCal is known for. Go hiking at the Rose Canyon Open Space Park or travel miles a few miles west and spend some time in the water at the La Jolla Cove. For even more shopping, dining, and entertainment options, Downtown San Diego is about 20 minutes south. Rentals in this charming, laid-back locale are mid-range to upscale and include everything from Mediterranean-style single-family homes to luxury student housing.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at Torrey Pines Village
Indira and Blanca went above and beyond in helping me get into my new apartment . Both were very personable but yet remaining professional. From the momemt I spoke with Indira she was so sweet and I could tell she genuinely cared about me moving in asap. Blanca stayed after hours the day before Thanksgiving in order to make sure I had my place by the holiday. LOVE it here. This is the only loft apartment that I know of that because of the layout there is noone above me or below me. If not for the VIP trearment i feel i received from both India and Blanca I may have missed out on this GEM . It feels like HOME. There was even a brand new designer towel set and bathroom decor and an adorable kitchen counter display as well. Nice touch ladies. Susanna Brown
My wife and I moved here from Northern California. I grew up in the LA area so I'm used to the city but she grew up in a small town on the Oregon coast. Needless to say she was worried about being in such a populated area, with noise and crowds and traffic. This complex is right next to the UTC mall and is surprisingly quiet if you don't include the lugi hocking neighbor and the random conversations you hear through your window in various languages. San Diego is gorgeous with great weather so not having air conditioning is fine except that means all your windows have to be open to get a nice cross breeze. This affords very interesting opportunities for eye contact with anyone who happens to walk by. If you have to turn your head to keep the gaze on the apartment you are scoping you have lingered to long dude. The laundry rooms are super clean (ha) and they are used with a prepaid card that you can load up online. Rent can be paid online as well at anytime before the due day. The property manager is great and the maintenance guy gets any problems solved pretty quickly. The patios are pretty roomy which makes it easy to chill outside and enjoy the landscaping. Parking is the best we could find of the complexes we scoped: one spot in the lot per apartment and an extra permit, for a small one time fee, to park in the mall parking lot. Basically unlimited parking for you and any guests as long as you're cool with a little walk. As far as location goes it's near anything you could need and about 10 minutes to a great beach and surf spot. To top it off you can get delivery from a bunch of places around and a great gelato spot in also within walking distance, plus wine, sushi, mall shinanegans, movie theater, gym; you can even buy a Tesla. Basically this place was the best we could find with the most room for the price in a great quiet location, and the only downsides are no air conditioning, loud snot rocketeers, and random long gazes into the eyes of the peeping neighbors. But honestly, an open window at eye level and someone playing mass effect or watching Bob's Burgers, it'd be hard not to take a look.
