Situated in the heart of America's Heartland, Ames is a college town in central Iowa. The city wraps around its stellar Iowa State University, the state's flagship university and a member of the prestigious Association of American Universities. Love it this is my permanent home for life I love that I have 2 pools and workout gym a club house that is open 24/7 and grilling stations all over the property and the staff is very supportive and maintenance does a great job and service I love it that we got permission to do whatever we want to the apartment and balcony my Emotional Support Cat loves it to and much happier and I love that we can watch the storms rolling in and all the excitement of the streets and ramp and everything I love the fact we have a fireplace in our apartment

My experience living at Steinbeck was positive because it came furnished and has a good price. The gym went uncleaned for a few months and the tanning was closed for most of my time here, but otherwise useful amenities. I’m a fan of the price and location.

I still love living Here. Quiet neighbors. I get notices quickly. Maintence problems get fixed quickly. Emails come frequely about everything.

Overall, it’s a good and quiet place to live. The environment is peaceful, and I’ve generally had a positive experience. However, the cleanliness could be improved at times, and the tanning beds have been out of service since March.

I have loved my time living at The Social! The maintenance staff are always helpful and kind, along with the leasing staff. My apartment was completely clean and spotless on my move-in day, which made my move-in a lot less stressful! Highly recommend checking out this community!

My mom said I’d get a renovated apartment since that is what they told her. It wasn’t really renovate as it’s shown online, I’m guessing that’s why they wouldn’t allow us to look at the actual property before hand because we wanted to get measurements for my furniture. No issues with maintenance coming when I send a request. But poor insulation when it’s cold out. Other than that this is a fine complex.

Facilities are decent. People are quiet. For a place that calls itself the social, there isn’t a lot going on here. I like the gym. But it needs some cleaning and upkeep.

Don’t like that I had to come in to a place and clean and have to put in like 10 work orders, with the amount of rent u pay I expected to move in without doing extra work as I got or before

Excellent time living here for three years. As I am about to graduate, I can't think of another complex that offers the amount of amenities while being as cost efficient.

Overall, it’s a fine place to live. Close to school and work with bus stops near if you don’t want to walk. Office workers are somewhat helpful, but it really depends. Maintenance workers are great but if you submit a request they take a while to get to you but I think that’s more the managers fault. Rent is reasonably priced compared to other places in Ames, so you are really paying for what you get if you get a not so great apartment. Some apartments can get drafty and cold because the windows are poorly insulated but if you put plastic film on the inside during the winter it’s fine. Also have had issues with the water lines for the washer freezing in cold weather in some units and maintenance’s solution was a small space heater pointed towards the lines.

It has been great here! There have been issues with some things such as our washer and dryer or other items breaking but they have been pretty responsive with service requests

The maintenance does not fix anything in a timely manner. The staff always says something different each time you call. The pools are closed often. The staff doesn’t really care about the residents it feels like.

I’ve enjoyed living here for the past 2 years! I think the team is nice and helpful. The amenities are pretty nice, but sometimes closed. Our apartment is next to a bus stop and busy street, so it gets noisy. I do enjoy the west Ames location! Overall, it’s a great, cheap college/first apartment!

The maintenance are absolutely the slowest people to do anything, my shower broke and then got fixed and then broke again a month later and both times it took atleast 4 days and multiple calls to fix it. My sink sprayer broke, got fixed, and then broke within a few days. Otherwise I think the apartment is nice and the staff are fairly understanding, when my bill was unusually high I was credited and the events they hold are pretty cool.

I don't know my neighbors but they're quiet, which I like. Rooms are big, I really like the kitchen. Some stuff is a little scuffed, but the rent is low so I'll take it.

Staff very friendly. Maintenance is a little messy and leaves things behind. A little disappointed with the amount of things being to be fixed (i.e. blinds, dryer door, bathroom drawer and shelving, fridge shelving) after moving in.

I just moved in and the process was super easy! I have already started using their great amenities, like the gym and tanning bed. They are also in a really great location and I love that it’s close to my work!

Snow cleaning was poor as there was lots of ice all over our parking. Other than that it’s been alright so far moving out due to them starting to charge utilities

I enjoy living at Social West Ames. It’s fairly priced and the amenities are great. The only complaints I have are regarding noise and occasional difficulty paying rent. I live in Steinbeck right near South Dakota Ave, so it gets very loud with cars and buses. For paying rent, sometimes extra fees are strangely added on that I have to work with the office to get removed and it occasionally deletes my payment info which takes a bit to set back up. Other than these things, I think it’s a good first/college apartment with good amenities.

Maintenence requests are fixed in a timely manner and utilities are nice. Walls are also thick so you cannot hear your neighbors much. Events hosted by the complex happen with little warning, so they are hard to attend.

The space is nice and the price is very fair for what you get, the only thing is maintenance requests take an abnormally long amount of time and sometimes aren’t fixed the first time around.

i am currently living in West Ames Apartments, and I am absolutely loving it! The location is fantastic, with easy access to shops, parks, and public transportation. The management team is friendly and responsive, always addressing any concerns promptly. The amenities are impressive, too! I am enjoying the well-maintained fitness center and the inviting community lounge, which is perfect for socializing with neighbours i am finding the community to be welcoming, and I appreciate the organized events that help bring residents together. , I am having a wonderful experience at West Ames Apartments, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great place to live

Been pretty disappointed with how concerns are being handled. Haven’t been able to get straight answers or many things done. Hoping things improve soon.
Love the amenities and the apartment. I wish that maintenance was faster when we have issues that need to be addressed quickly such as an AC that went out at the end of June when it was 90 degrees outside.
